I have been at retreat since Thursday afternoon and will head home today. Friday night I went home for awhile, and last night Far Guy came over to have dinner with us... Andy’s Award Winning Ribs, corn bread, potato salad (my recipe) and root beer floats.
I am working on Christmas Cards.
These flowers here are surviving, Far Guy reports that my flowers froze on Saturday morning and there were snow flakes in the air at home.
Far Side
It sounds like a wonderful time at the retreat. We’ve decided to stay in hotels on our drive to Iowa next week. Snow is flying in Montana already too and I would rather be warm in a hotel than in the back of our truck! :-)

Betsy
That rib dinner sounds delicious! I'm glad to hear Far Guy came and joined you. It looks like you got to break in that special new birthday gift! I hope you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteThose cards are beauties! The retreat sounds like good therapy for the soul.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the kind of weekend you needed.
ReplyDeleteThose cards look incredible! Wow! I would love to do a 'retreat'. I think it is healthy to spend some time apart once in a while.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers - - Gorgeous! What are the tall fuzzy looking ones called? The common name we would know.
Your weekend sounds like it was as good or even better than you anticipated.
It is a Celosia...most likely Celosia spicata...it might be the series called Flamingo...but I am not certain.
DeleteThose flowers look as if you could dry them and have some color all winter. Glad you enjoyed your retreat and got some cards done. They are very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes I would like to know what kind of flower that is also? Love the cards that you are making Have a great day
ReplyDeleteThe cards are beautiful - lots of work, but I know the recipients treasure them. I kept the ones I received and will display them during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteOh, those cards are going to be beautiful! That Gemini is the perfect small size to bring along--sweet! The Clean Color markers have such beautiful color, too. You are way ahead of me this year. I am still finishing up the studio! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI totally believe you have had snowflakes at your house. It has certainly been cold enough. Stay warm. Love the cards! :)
Flowers frozen and snowflakes in the air! Sounds altogether too much like an early winter. I can imagine how you look forward to that.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the retreat is going well and you're getting Christmas cards made. I almost dread receiving hand made cards because I can never bear to throw them away but after a while the pile that I keep becomes a problem. I'm not much into doing crafts with cards, besides I wouldn't want to cut them up.
Making Christmas cards is awesome, me and craft stuff don't mix
ReplyDeleteFrozen flowers and snowflakes? In September? You must be in MinneSNOWda! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you seem to be enjoying the retreat, and that Far Guy was able to come up and have dinner with you.
ReplyDeletelooks like you were busy.... look at those colored markers (they look lovely) - right now I have some favorite "ink joy gel" pens in many colors that I am guarding from everybody except me to use :)
ReplyDeleteThe cards look very intricate--lots of hard work! Sounds like the retreat was a chance to enjoy being together with some like-minded crafters while getting all that work done.
ReplyDeleteFrost? I dread when the first one hits. I hang on to my garden's fresh tomatoes as long as I can! Hoping we get another two weeks or so around here.
Your Christmas cards are beautiful. It's so sad when the flowers fade away in the fall. Ribs, potato salad and cornbread sound like a delicious meal!
ReplyDeleteGlad you went to the retreat and that Far Guy joined you for dinner and what a dinner that was! Your cards are lovely from what I could see and I hope you were able to enjoy yourself.
