It was a tough week…seemed to have lots of death…and tears.
One of my Aunt’s died the same day as Chance died. Her funeral will be next week. It seems like a long wait…I think people are dying to get into the funeral home…a bit of dark humor on this Saturday.
I am away from home…usually I leave Far Guy and Chance and go to the Craft Retreat an hour away…many times they would come visit me there. This time Far Guy will be alone. He encouraged me to go…I can come back home anytime over the weekend. Far Guy says the time away will do me some good. He has a list of things that he wants to accomplish and he may join us for supper one night.
It may snow while I am away…I packed a winter coat. The same women have been meeting at the same retreat for many years now…several mothers and daughters will be there. It used to be mostly scrapbooking…but has evolved to what ever craft you want to work on…I will be working on our Christmas cards.

I agree with Far Guy: it will probably do you good to go. Try to enjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteIt will be good to be with friends.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you in your grief. I am going to miss that wonderful dog, too. I hope you have a good time at your retreat.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a bit of time away from home and around other folks is good. I found that out myself this week.
ReplyDeleteTime heals but sometime we don’t want to let go and you don’t have to. You will have to start some new habits for two. I have channeled Chance through my dog and I am not doing well with losing Chance. Barney certainly is in his end of life but we prop him up as much as we can. It is nice you are getting some work done and a group seems to be encouraging as you are there. I am planting my tree today, rain or no rain.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you took some time for yourself doing something you enjoy. It sounds almost like a homecoming/famiy gathering type of thing at this point. It will help you rest, renew your spirit, and make you feel good about getting something accomplished - - - something that you love doing. Your creativity is a blessing to many and brightens the day of the recipients of your cards.
ReplyDeletePraying your soon approaching homebound (at times) winter will be relaxing to you both and hopefully a healthy one. Most of us in the sixth decade or better know how to take care of ourselves - - - if only those sick with viruses were never in our midst!
Be patient and kind to yoursef.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to enjoy the weekend away. The distraction will be good. Maybe Far Guy wants some time alone. What a sad week, next week can only be better.
ReplyDeleteI woke up last night thinking of you and Far Guy. I want you to know our hearts and minds and souls are with you. Losing those we love is never easy. Different things to do always helps for a spell.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and FarGuy!
I'm glad you went. I agree with FarGuy that it will do you good to get away for a little while and be creative and be able to just relax and visit. I bet you have pretty cards lined up, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteOH, Connie, I am so sorry for all your losses. I have been catching up on the blogs I have missed with the hurricane and then the flood today and found your sad news. I will miss Chance's posts and all your stories and photos about him. He was a wonderful dog and I know what a hole you have in your hearts and lives. I hope your weekend away will help you feel some peace and happiness after all your tears. God bless. Hugs, Cynthia
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of you and Far Guy. It is good for you to go to the retreat and be with friends. Doesn't one of your daughters go to this too? I hope Far Guy does join you for dinner one night.
ReplyDeleteHolding you both in my thoughts.
Bonnie
Far Guy is right. It would be good to get away.
ReplyDeleteNice that you can go to the craft retreat and be with old friends to chat and do crafts.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you have suffered another loss. I agree with Far Guy, it will do you good to be around others whose company you enjoy, do something you enjoy to keep you busy. Sending hugs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteYes it will be good for you to go
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you have lost your Aunt! My Husband and I went to his Fiftieth Reunion for the weekend and he was so surprised to find out how many are gone already! Sharon
ReplyDeleteA retreat is just what you need! Something to ease your mind off of your troubles and
ReplyDeletekeep your mind occupied. I'm sure at home you and Gene just look at each other and are automatically reminded of Chance. Breathe deeply and peace be with you both.
