I found the new sculptures in town quite interesting.
Sculpture #3 Untitled Copper and Steel the artist is from the small town of Vergas Minnesota.
The copper shines so nicely in the sunshine.
Not sure what the artist was thinking…is it a river? I see movement…I enjoyed the colors. Of the five new sculptures this one is my favorite.
Yesterday we went out for lunch in mid afternoon…just as we were being seated a couple in a nearby booth motioned wildly for us to join them…so we did. It was one of Far Guy’s classmates. The guys had a good visit and I enjoyed listening to his wife…who was a talker.
We came home and I sprayed more Poison Ivy…so much for life in the fast lane!
It is too hot and humid to do anything outside theist couple of days. Today I have one errand to run then I will try to mow the grass and spray the weeds.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are taking it easy during the heat spells. We didn't even make it to 70 yesterday. Our little corner of the country is 20 degrees cooler than normal. But it won't last. I like that copper sculpture very much. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis sculpture will be interesting to watch as the copper reacts to the weather.
ReplyDeleteI like that sculpture much better than the ants!
ReplyDeletePS - - Start keeping score on the ivy

Poison Ivy 1
Pretty much matches our life in the fast lane! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of sculptures here but not any thing like your new one,I
ReplyDeletelike the movement.
Nice new header!
ReplyDeleteLike a bad penny....I'm back! I have to catch up on what's been happening in your neck of the woods! Your life is exciting compared to mine but I'm fine with it because when the phone rings someone wants something and it's not to invite me to anything fun but can I take care of their cat while they go on vacation. I guess because I stay home I am 'available'.
ReplyDeleteThat is a striking sculpture. I have to go read all the posts I missed because your life really IS more exciting than mine! LOL!
I like that copper sculpture the best, too! The outside ridges growing larger reminded me of a shell. I wonder if it will turn color over time or if they protected the copper. You'll find out pretty soon. ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice lunch. I'm one of those chatter boxes, myself--LOL! :)
I like the copper sculpture too. I can see the river in it but I also see a sun. The base looks like the surface of water I think. Isn't Minnesota the land of 10,000 lakes? I understand that fast lane you are in and with this heat I'd rather it not be any faster!
ReplyDeleteWhatever the copper sculpture is supposed to be I like it a lot more than the first one, the reclining green 'man'.
ReplyDeleteI like this one, too. It doesn't really say anything to me except "pretty" but maybe that's all it's supposed to say. Nice to get out for lunch once in a while and visit with friends. I hope that's all the poison ivy spraying now.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see those lovely copper things in person. Looks interesting for sure. I am a big fan of public art, or "oart" as the late great Molly Ivins said in her essay on "Texas oart." There are large murals in town on some of the buildings, but the only sculpture is a small herd of metal horses made from welded "stuff" (car parts, etc) on the bank lawn. I love them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the copper beats the... green thing. I like this one better too. Good to get out, good to see new things in your area. How's you eye now? Beautiful pix in your header. Okay... here's my fireworks for you: BOOM! Happy 4th.
ReplyDeleteThanks my eye is getting better:) BOOM back at you!
DeleteThe copper sculpture is lovely. I don't think it has to mean anything. It can just be a thing of beauty.
ReplyDeleteYes, the copper is interesting. Well, whether people admire or criticize the sculptures, it is a step forward to be a town that planned to install some public art. Nice.
