Asleep

I took one allergy tablet.  It made me sleep for ten hours then I was awake for six hours (during which time I laid down twice) and then I had a four hour nap and I am still exhausted.  It makes you dream crazy stuff too…I have decided to stop taking that particular pill.  Onward to a runny nose and itchy eyes of springtime in Minnesota.

I will shelve this information…it may come in handy for my family someday if I am trying to escape the Nursing Home.  One pill and I am conked out and when awake I am calm  although a bit spaced out….did I care what was happening when I was awake…not so much.

Chance is always good company when I am asleep/not feeling well….he stays right by me.  When he was little I slept with one hand in his laundry basket…just to keep him company so he wouldn’t whine all night.

  1. Sometimes having the option of pills to help you sleep is a good thing. I know what you mean about not wanting to sleep all the time though.

  2. Your reaction to the allergy medication sounds unpleasant. Hope you find something that works.

  3. Boy, that sounds like some powerful allergy medicine. Was it the "non-drowsy" kind or the regular? I can only take the non-drowsy stuff (although it doesn't work as well at least I'm not sleeping all the time).

  4. I've had allergy medicine like that. Find it easier to just stay indoors. My pain medication zonks me like that, but I prefer sleepy to hurting.

  5. I suspect that you took Benadryl. I only take that when I'm really desperate. So far this year I've had good luck with Flonase. At least you got some good sleep. :-)

  6. Eeeks! I have escaped allergies so far. I know my mother started to have many allergies later in her life. In fact, she did say that the grass made her eyes itch.
I know that I have to take benedryl if I am stung by a bee and it knocks me out.

  7. I was started Zyrtec by the allergist. I take it at night as instructed and it has helped. I am fine during the day with it - - as long as I get a 30 mins nap at some point!
However, I know what you mean - - - one aspirin can make me sleepy.

  8. Ugh, nothing makes me sleepy. I wish it did sometimes!

  9. I take two allergy medications - one in the morning (prescription), one at night (OTC). No problems with drowsiness. I hope you can find medication(s) that work for you and don't cause a sleep coma.

  12. Nothing like the touch of warm furry body to make one feel good.

  13. When I have a cold and take a cold tablet the tablet will put me to sleep but generally speaking sleep is what our bodies need at such times

  14. I am sorry you have to deal with allergies. They are miserable. I used to take a half dose of Tylenol PM now and then, but I had crazy head games when I was awake the last time I took one so I threw threw them out.

  15. I'm trying to picture you in a laundry basket and Chance laying on the bed with one paw hanging down, lol! I've never had to deal with allergies, but you have my sympathy.

  16. That must be one powerful tablet or else it doesn't agree with you at all.

  17. Thankfully we are through the worst of the tree allergen season and it wasn't too bad this year. No need for those pills that can have unpredictable effects. I have to be bad off to take any allergy medications and then I take half a tablet.
However I have been having sleep issues, so all that sleep sounds good, especially with your faithful dog at your side.

  18. That must have been one heck of a powerful pill to make you sleep 10 hours and even then be able to nap. I think I'd opt for half a pill next time.

  19. Whoa Nellie Belle! That's amazing! I imagine, like me, you've never indulged in a lot of medicines so when we do they really work for us! LOL! I love that photo too. It really reminds me of home.

  20. I can’t take any allergy medicine as it does the same to me. It is bad allergy time right now with every thing coming into bloom or leaves all at the same time.
