Slow and Easy

We are still taking it easy, not much is accomplished…some cleaning and cooking and walks to the mailbox.   Other than trips to the Clinic and to the grocery store we have been staying home and away from germy and perfumy people. Far Guy is back to walking 5,000 steps and working his way to 6,000.  The dog is fair game and accompanies him on the walks outside.  I took one day off of walking because I was stiff and sore…but I am back to walking again.

Yesterday Far Guy sharpened a bunch of woodcarving knives for me.  He is working on a carving that will be a gift for a friend.  I am working on my little bark houses.

We have had warmer weather and sunshine!   Chance does not like walking through that water in the walk so he takes a short cut through the snowbank.

The snowbanks are shrinking!   Remember to get your Snow Stick Guess in here.  The contest ends at 9PM tonight.

Chance Feb 28

Far Guy thinks he should be feeling better than he is, but then he has little to no patience and he had a real tough month.  He still has a cough but I am hopeful that it will be gone in a few more days as his month is up.

I am more than happy to turn the calendar today…one month closer to spring and no snow.

  1. I am glad to hear that you both keep feeling a little better. Chance is a smart boy to figure out how to avoid that standing water in the walk! You have a lot of snow on the ground and I hope it will keep shrinking as the days go on.

  2. I'm happy to hear that Far Guy is recovering. I know that my husband has always felt he should 'get' back on his feet much faster each time.
    Smart boy Chance is!
I'm sad to say our snow is nearly gone and we are left with muck.

  3. Praising God for improvement for both of you! Thankful you did not break anything and the snowbank was there to cushion your fall from the ice.
Even though it is extremely frustrating to the majority of us to be slower in physical healing that we would like, I guess it is good our mind lets it be that way. Otherwise, we might get complacent and not have a desire to improve which could be more detrimental to our health. Both of you have come through some really tough respiratory illnesses this winter!

  4. So grateful you both are improving, especially Far Guy. I have tried my best this winter to avoid anyone who is ill. Just not in the mood to get sick. There is nothing wrong with slow and easy this year. I think we all deserve the easier life this year.

  6. I am impressed with FG's step count. He is beating me! He needs to tell me how he accomplishes that.

  14. good to hear that things are easing; winter and the accompanying ailments do go on rather, don’t they?
I am so looking forward to spring.

  15. It's so good to hear of the continued improvements for you both. You are going in the right direction and that is what matters. I've learned the older I get the longer it takes me to heal from illnesses so I just try to be happy with each small improvement and don't push it too hard. Enjoy that sun!

  17. Glad to hear Far Guy is doing well. It is really frustrating how long it takes to get one's health back. We probably will have another snow or two. Right now we are having day after day of rain.

  19. It's great to hear that FG is up to 5000 steps a day. Considering how ill he was, that is a real accomplishment!

  20. Chances photo on the road is a classic view of winter. It may take another few weeks for that to all go away. The wanting to do things is a sure sign that Far Guy is better. I sure declined in stamina this winter and hope that I can build it back up again. Getting over 5000 steps is great. I should get one of those devices and see if I am making it up to at least 3000. I am so lazy right now.

  21. I'm like Far Guy...no patience for illness....I will not be a good patient at "the home". LOL! So glad he is getting better each day. The older you get the longer it takes to recover and then one day you just don't...the end. LOL! I need to get a fitbit or something to motivate me to walk again. Since the girls can't I don't want to but I need to. Nitty's leg and Annie's back means they don't go to ar or too fast anymore. 5000 is great! I think I used to do 3000 around the house here and more when I was walking 3 miles with the girls. You guys are doing great!
