I am not sure what the New Year will bring. ( My crystal ball is all foggy) I have finally decided on my one word intention for 2018.
I thought about lots of different words…none seemed just right. Persue…persist…get on with it (that was three words)…
I kept coming back to one word…last year my word was ongoing…as I had many ongoing projects. WELL I still have some of those projects and will probably add to them sometime soon….make a list and check it thrice…
My word for 2018 is EXPLORE. That may seem adventurous to you…in my world not so much.
I need to explore all the nooks and crannies in this house and clean them out…get rid of what we don’t need. We have way too much stuff for two people…the 19 years we have lived in this house we have just kept accumulating “stuff”.
I want to explore several new hobbies…learn something new. I know I don’t need more hobbies…but I have one project I really want to accomplish….it has been 31 years in the making…more on that some other day.
I want to explore a few different places in Minnesota…nothing too far away.
I want to explore more family history. I want to see the church my Great Grandfather helped to build in Annandale Minnesota. I want to photograph my Great Great Grandmothers/Grandfathers Graves…I want to search for their obituaries.
I want to explore more area cemeteries and continue volunteer work with Find A Grave.
I need to explore more settings on my camera. I need to make more time for that golden hour in the morning and just before sunset to take more photos.
I need to explore a few more antique shops…for Forgotten Photos…I have no shortage at the moment but some day I might…this may seem counter productive…but it is a passion of mine that I am not willing to give up at the moment.
With all that exploring…I might need to explore my eyelids every afternoon to make sure they have no holes in them.
What would be your one word intention for 2018? Do you have one?
Here is a greeting from 1912.
Happy New Year!
I have been giving this some consideration and it is quite difficult to find just one word that says it all. At this moment, my word is COMPLETE, but it may not be the correct word and that probably says a lot about me! I do want to complete many of my unfinished projects and, like you, explore the inside of cupboards which have things stored for many years. We have lived in the same house for 50 years so there is a lot of "stuff" including a couple of outside sheds and my garden shed as well. I will just have to take it one day at a time and see what I can achieve. All the best for 2018.
ReplyDeleteGood word and I like how you applied it to the different areas you plan to "Explore". My word is "Finish" this year. It can be applied to every area of my life so wish me luck! LOL! Happy New Year to you and your 'crew'!
ReplyDeleteWe've been in our house fifty years, too. I have had periodic clean, sort and dump spells. This year I hope to do major clean, sort and dump. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteI thought about it a lot, and I guess the word that most appeals to me is "APPRECIATE." I have so much to be thankful for, and sometimes I forget how important it is to be grateful for it all. And whatever the year brings my way, I will attempt to appreciate it. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy word would have to be "grateful". I need to show more gratitude for all God's Blessings.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It made me think that I also need to do some of these same things, the main one, explore what is all in this 14' x 65' mobile home, & deal with stuff no longer needed. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletePhyllis, I too live in a 14' x 52'mobile home (1981) with to extra rooms on the side. I've been here going on 5 years & still have a lot of purging to do (the former owner left a lot of stuff behind). May God bless both of us with the energy to tackle our projects! Happy.New Year!
DeleteGood luck, sounds like an interesting year.
ReplyDeleteScripture says, "Without a vision, the people perish." So thankful you still have goals and excitement about life. Those who lose that desire - - - - - it's just sad to be around them.
ReplyDeleteMy word would be desire - - - to desire more passion for God - - the kind of passion I had in the beginning - -like a new love. Desire for enough energy to all continue my projects and hobbies - - and all the everyday mundane repetitive stuff. Desire to be content whatever energy level I am at. And as others have mentioned - - to always be grateful & thankful.
Thanks for some good words to start us off right in 2018!
Mine would be Space...I need space to do MY stuff on MY time without being pulled and pushed into others spaces.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Eager to see and read about your 2018 explorations. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGood word choice! May you accomplish all your goals in 2018.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
ReplyDeleteMy word is Patience
Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteJoy
You've chosen a word that will keep you very busy in 2018. Keeping busy is the key to keeping well. You've given me some good ideas.
ReplyDeleteExplore is a great word! Hope this year is full of new discoveries.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good word you have picked, I think I might borrow that one. There are so many places close to home that we haven't explored, we need to do that. Made me think of when David was applying for the job in England. He was researching interview questions and one that came up was 'one word to describe yourself'. He decided his word was 'innovative', and lo and behold, he was asked that question at the interview! Anyway, so then we had fun picking words to describe ourselves. Mine was 'why?'. If you tell me something and I don't believe it or understand it, I have to find out 'why' I should. I don't remember being told that as a child I was always asking why?, but I certainly am as an adult.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and I hope you do lots of exploring, in the house and out!
Sounds like the perfect word for you this coming year. I have not ever picked a word. Maybe it is something I should think about for 2018. Happy New Year's Day! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have some good plans to Explore! My word for the year is Peace. I need to find that elusive thing! Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great, happy and healthy year
ReplyDeleteMonique in Montréal..eh
What a perfect word for you! I have chosen mine, too, but I'm going to reveal it on my blog, soon. Like yours, it covers several areas i want to focus on and it took me a while to come up with the right one. Cheers for The Right Word!
ReplyDeleteI like your choice of Word and how you intend to act on it. I haven't really thought of what my word might be.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2018 to you, Connie! I've been praying for a word for this year and Renew came to me. I need to renew my prayer and Bible study times, as I allowed them to lax which is not good. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteI can learn a lot from you! You set goals each year and you reach them! I try to do that every year but never seem to get as far as I'd like accomplishing my goals. I think my word for this year needs to be "motivation". Maybe I can learn to have the motivation to get more of my goals accomplished! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI hope 2018 is everything you want it to be, filled with happiness and laughter and plenty of things to explore
ReplyDeleteExplore is the perfect word for you. I don't have a word for 2018. I need to think a little on this. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGood plan!
ReplyDeleteHiya!I found your blog via Rita. Loved seeing your word of the year and your use of it in goals. I so need to explore some setting son my camera as well! My word for 2018 is "Thrive". :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year !!
ReplyDeleteI have never considered a one word intention. I'll have to give it some thought.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about your 31-year-in-the-making project! And you certainly have an impressive to-do list for this year! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI have learned to let go of a lot of things that I wanted to do. My body has changed my outlook about all the possibilities that seem to be pipe dreams now. I am not discouraged, I just will continue the adventure. Explore is a far reaching goal with many possible paths. It is a good directive that will help you find more good things in life.
ReplyDeleteI ... think my word will be either fear ... or at best uncertainty.
ReplyDeleteNot too positive of late.
Sounds like an interesting word choice. I'm new to your blog, but look forward to hearing about the things you explore in the coming year.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!
Tori
Love the old card and your word of the year. I'm not that strict - one word would not be helpful to me. I am going to explore somewhere I've never been (did that last year and want to continue), going to hope - for a new job, going to do - many things and enjoy life more and stress less!
ReplyDeleteI linked you to my blog post this morning! Thank you for this post, it's means much to me.
