I have not had a cold this bad in many years. I am a snot factory. When I am not overproducing nasal secretions I am sneezing...loudly...sometime the sneezing means a mad dash for the bathroom...drinking plenty of fluids will do that to you. I have Kleenex in my pocket, stuffed into my bra and containers of Kleenex next to my computer. My hands are chapped and raw from washing them all the time. The snot factory has given me a headache. I am coughing ...when I lay down I cough more. My ears still itch. I think my hearing in my right ear has been affected....sometimes it seems sound is in a tin can. I have been to sauna and taken just about every cold preparation known to mankind. I have completed a course of antibiotics. I have done everything I know to do. Far Guy gets into the spirit of things when he asks "What can I get you besides a gun?"
I manage to get one load of laundry done a day and get the kitchen cleaned up...Far Guy has been doing most of the cooking. I am still watching Peaky Binders it is a series. I play mindless computer games and wander around in the house. Chance is good company and I brush him once a day and tend to his skin irritations and his hemorrhoid/fistula...which for the moment has disappeared. (Yeah Chance!)
I just keep on keeping on...getting not much accomplished. Good thing I had nothing planned for this week.

Yes I might be a tad grumpy. I have got to get better. Far Guy is coming down with it and per Doctor's instructions has started an antibiotic.Far Side
You certainly have a nasty cold and I hope you soon start to feel better. It always amazes me that the research scientists haven't been able to find a cure for the common cold! Please don't load that gun!!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon! Is there anything worse than the "common cold"?
ReplyDeleteI think you're entitled to feel grumpy when you're really sick like that. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hate this for you two. Colds hit us harder when we are retirement age. Our docs often give a steroid shot to help decrease the inflammation in the bronchial area when so much coughing is done. Glad you don't have the flu. Seriously -- - a bad cold is more than enough to deal with. Also, thankful you really do know how to take care of yourselves. Praying FG is able to recover easier than usual with his.
ReplyDeleteYou have/had Lyme's if I remember correctly. My guess is that might compromise your immune system when fighting something? I know my Alpha-Gal tick allergy has done that with me.
I am soooo sorry to hear that you are still suffering. I am praying for your recovery every day. It seems everyone I know is getting sick with something this year. Sure hope Far Guy isn't catching it and if he does that it isn't as bad as yours. You have every right to be grumpy. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your cold is still so bad. Have you been back to the doctor?
ReplyDeleteThe antibiotics I took have an effect for two weeks after you begin them, unless I get worse they don't want to see me for at least two weeks:)
DeleteThat is one nasty cold! It will probably lead to a secondary infection requiring another antibiotic. Sending you a sanitary virtual hug. :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a mild case of Cabin Fever along with the cold. I hope both dissipate soon.
ReplyDeleteI have year round allergies and can relate to the drippy nose and sneezing. I've learned to use old fashioned hankies. My nose doesn't get as irritated as it does with tissues.
I hate being sick, it always makes me grumpy. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteStop!!! Do Not Consider Suicide. This too shall pass (Exodus 13 Verse 33) As the ancients say "If you take all the proper medicine it will take a week to cure. If you do nothing it will take 7 days to pass. Otherwise there are similar but worse things. My spouse suffered itching and weeping more than a month with "pink eye" last year and Barb said it was worse than her two different forms of cancer. I'll check back in a few days expecting to find you much better. Hang in there. Ray. :)
ReplyDeleteGosh...hope you get to feeling much better very soon!
ReplyDeleteWow, that has hit you hard! Surely it must be coming to an end any day now. Take care, and sure hope Far Guy doesn't get it as bad.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better Quick. I have congestion that isn't a cold but irritating. Take it easy and keep drinking!
ReplyDeleteLove Far Guy's spirit... a gun. :)
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear he is getting it now...when it rains it pours.Take care.
Both of you sick?! Hide the gun! ;)
ReplyDeleteI finally had a normal temp yesterday after 8 or 9 days. Now I'm just an achy, snot-filled zombie woman. My immune system is always compromised (as yours might be from the Lymes) so it takes me longer to bounce back. Plus I am old--LOL! *she says as she sneezes and blows her nose on the way to the bathroom*
I've never heard a better description of a rotten cold. Made me feel bad just reading about it. :) It sounds awful, and I sure hope you get well soon. I had to laugh at what Far Guy said.
ReplyDeleteThis is a bad one. Day 7? I think these things take 10 to 14 days. I hope things start to turn around for you.
ReplyDeleteYou sound awful, or, er, your cold sounds awful. Grumpy is Sneezy and needs to see Doc.
ReplyDeleteEveryone I've heard of with a cold, including myself, says it was worse than ever before and dragged on for weeks! And the cough was terrible. Hope you're over the worst soon.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm sorry this has lasted so long. Keep up the rest and fluids and maybe start a good book if you feel like reading. I hope if Far Guy does catch it he only gets a mild case. I'm trying to stay away from the doctor's office for fear of catching the flu. It has really been bad this year.
ReplyDeleteYou know you are certainly allowed to be grumpy when you have been sick this long! Sending you positive and healing thoughts!
Hopefully, "Day 7" means you are almost over this! Sorry it seems so miserable. Hope you're on the mend soon!
ReplyDeleteThe "snot saga" was so funny. I'm glad you can find some humor in a very uncomfortable predicament. It seems these blasted colds are so long-lasting!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame yo u. It's hard to be in a good mood when you're tired or you don't feel well or both. I hope you all get better soon!
ReplyDeleteI had it too.... was sick a month. I hadn't been that sick in many years and yes, I did get a flu shot last October. This respiratory flu is nothing to fool around with. It's still killing people in all 50 states. Take care and prayers headed your family's way! xxx
