One morning it was just frosty.
The little Redpolls that are Niger Thistle Seed eating machines are here.
It snowed one morning. We put up another Thistle Feeder. As soon as the sun is up Redpolls fill the feeders.
Then it warmed up and now we have green grass again. It warmed up enough that I got our everyday go to town vehicle all cleaned up on the inside. Far Guy told Chance no more shedding in the back seat! Cloth seats act just like a brush for his fur.
Pie Report: I used the recipe on the back of the Libby’s Pumpkin can. My pumpkin pie was delicious. I substituted 1/4 cup of maple syrup for 1/4 cup of the white sugar. Farm fresh eggs also helped to make it taste wonderful.
We had lunch with my parents one day last week and also had lunch with Alaska Guy and his gal. When we go out for lunch our supper is easy…fruit and cheese and crackers or we have a “you are on your own night.”
Only a few more days in November. We did not partake in any of the crazy shopping stand in line to check out ordeals.
Substituting maple syrup for sugar in a pumpkin pie is brilliant! Maybe I'd like pumpkin pie if it tasted like maple. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of substituting syrup for sugar too. Our store bought one tasted good, but I missed actually making one.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't do any Black Friday shopping either...thank heavens!
ReplyDeleteLove Chance in the frost. Leah partook of online shopping (a rarity) and was asking my wish list items and opinions of hers (for card-making, of course). She made an order but won't tell me what she got--LOL! I think I know what I am getting for Christmas--craft goodies!! :) Have a nice week. December is almost here. :)
ReplyDeleteMy wife's pumpkin pie turned out great too. We bought a French Silk pie to be sure we wouldn't run out of dessert. We go caught making a last minute purchase of things the grandkids eat. We snuck in the pharmacy door and beat all the crowd at the doors. But the carts coming at us from every direction just drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteMaple syrup, eh? I used coconut sugar which worked great (about half the amount in the recipe), but have not tried syrup...next time. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe recipe on the can makes the BEST-tasting pumpkin pie.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to go shopping on Black Friday, etc. As a matter of fact, I try to avoid the stores completely this time of year.
Yep, the recipe on the Libby can is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteOn Black Friday, we went out to breakfast as usual, and when we got home, Amazon had delivered our shopping to our door. Then we went for walk.
Maple syrup has always made anything at all taste better. Now I've got a hankering for a piece of pumpkin pie, and I was just fine before I read this post, Connie. :-)
ReplyDeleteSubstituting Maple syrup for part of the sugar, huh? Great idea. I made a crustless Pumpkin pie today trying to use up milk before it went 'off'. I seem to make a lot of those Bisquik Impossible pies.
ReplyDeleteI agree the Libby's recipe makes the best Pumpkin Pie- I'll have to try the maple syrup trick.
ReplyDeleteI use that same recipe and have for years! I enjoyed it but I might try your maple syrup idea....that sounds like a winner!
