Our weather is almost perfect. It is warm for November…above freezing but the wind has been howling like a banshee. Our snow is gone.
Most of the people that we mailed our woodcarved extra special Christmas Ornaments to should get their packages in the mail today. We hauled two large bags into the Post Office last Monday and caused a line right out the door.
So this years question that will earn you an entry into the Christmas Ornament Give Away will be…what is your favorite Christmas Movie? Leave me a comment or email me your answer.
My favorite is “A Christmas Story” you know the one “You will shoot your eye out.”
I sorted beads for one manly eyeglass cord and ended up with three. I hope my friend from carving thinks one of them is manly enough for his taste.
The browns, tans and blacks worked up quite nicely. Most of these were odds and end of beads that we left over from other projects…some came from garage sales and some from my friend Nellie who gave me all her beads.
I had to order a few more bead supplies and I may make some more eyeglass cords after Christmas. I have already learned not to wear my favorite out of the house, someone admired mine and asked where I got it…so I gave it away. She was just thrilled.
The Christmas Ornament Give Away will be open until Sunday night 8PM my time at which time I will draw for a couple maybe three winners and then I can get them mailed off early next week.
For now the woodcarved ornament remains a secret…maybe tomorrow it will be revealed.
My favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. From Barb in North Dakota.
ReplyDeleteHands down, A Christmas Story!
ReplyDeleteFar Side - Love your blog. My favorite is It's a Wonderful Life. I just love Jimmy Stewart. (And yes, I know I'm giving away my age.) We "made" our kids watch it every year.
ReplyDeleteHow the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is one of my favorites to read.
Kathy - St. Paul, MN
My favorite is "It's A Wonderful Life"
ReplyDeleteReading your blog is like talking to one of my neighbors. So glad Jeanne introduced you to me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would be "It's a wonderful Life".
ReplyDeleteIt's "A Christmas Story" for me, too - "you could put your eye out!" just doesn't get old!
ReplyDeleteNice job on the "manly" eyeglass cords, and I love that you spontaneously gave your friend the one you were wearing.
ReplyDeleteThe wind howled here yesterday: I had to secure the snow shovel I keep on the deck two times because the wind wanted to whip it away.
My favorite Christmas movie is Prancer - what's not to love about the magic of Christmas and a reindeer who loves Christmas cookies?
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ---movie
ReplyDeleteThe eyeglass cords are really a good idea and gift.
Enjoy your blog. Merry Christmas
Beth
My favorite Christmas movie is also "A Christmas Story". One year a local TV station played it over and over, back to back, for 24 hours and I still didn't get tired of it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite also is "It's a Wonderful Life." I have always been a Jimmy Stewart fan. Thanks for the chance to win a gift! Sandy B
ReplyDeleteMy favorite growing up was always Rudolph but now How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grandkids watched it for the first time this year and loved it.
ReplyDeleteMine is also "The Christmas Story" ... the movie led us to reading the books behind the movie!! Plus there is another movie about a summer vacation... not as good as " you'll shoot your eye out" one!!
ReplyDeleteYour ornament drawing is so much fun! "A Christmas Story" has to be my favorite but "Holiday Inn" with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire is a close second!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Bonnie
It used to be "It's a Wonderful Life". Now I have to watch "Christmas with the Kranks". (But I still watch Jimmy Stewart & Donna Reed.)
ReplyDeleteI've made a few guesses what this years ornament might be. Can't wait to see the reveal. Always love your blog.
ReplyDeleteFavorite movie is Joyeux Noël but I never pass up a chance to watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
I won last year so I will take my name out of the hat but I can tell you that my very favorite is Emmet Otter's Jug Band.
ReplyDeleteI have to say It's a Wonderful LIfe. I enjoyed reading all the comments above!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Wonderful Life has been my favorite since I first watched it on an old black and white TV in the basement of a friend's house back in about 1968 (she couldn't believe I had never seen it). But to be honest, I have had two favorites ever since I first watched A Christmas Story and HAVE to watch them both every single year. :) But if forced to pick only one I would have to go with Wonderful Life because that has been a favorite for many more years.
ReplyDeletePS He should LOVE the eyeglasses cords and will probably have a hard time deciding. How sweet of you to give away yours to an admirer. I bet the look on her face was totally worth it! ;)
DeleteMine is "It's A Wonderful Life." Jimmy Stewart is a favorite in anything!
ReplyDeleteLove the manly glass eye glass cords.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a favorite movie of mine. I enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely beads!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Wonderful Life is my favorite though several others probably tie for second. Looking forward to seeing your hand carved ornament of the year and would be thrilled to win one!
ReplyDeleteI guess mine would also be It's a wonderful Life but love lots of others like The Christmas story which I think almost all of the twenty -eight that were home all watched a screen that covered one huge wall. There were two that still hadn't seen it including Barry! All Seven of us kids made it home to see Mom and she was quite Happy! Of course by the time I landed in Minneapolis I was feeling so sick. Just got back home Tuesday night and the Antibiotics and Steroids are not working. Back in to the Clinic tomorrow. So much for getting started at anything Christmas! Sharon
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Story, of course. Destined to become a classic.
ReplyDeleteMiracle on 34th Street is my favorite. Came out the year I was born.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Christmas movie? Have watched a few in my day, but can't say I have a favorite. Though I did just watch "Daddy's Home 2" and it was good for a laugh. Probably not a favorite. I do enjoy "The Grinch that Stole Christmas"; guess that's my favorite. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteFavorite movie is Miracle on 34th Street, the original one in black and white with Maureen O'Hara. And while it's not strictly a Christmas movie, I also love Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. This is the movie where the song I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas debuted, not the movie White Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHoliday Inn with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye is my favorite. I had a big crush on Danny Kaye when I was a kid in the fifties.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would have to be It's a Wonderful Life, but also enjoy the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and you can't leave out Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Love your eyeglass cords. I wish I could create all the things you do. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteFar Side, my favorite Christmas movie is "The Homecoming" which was the original movie that The Waltons series was based on. If I had to pick a second one, it might be "Christmas Vacation" which is a really goofy one. Hope I am lucky enough to win your beautiful wood carving! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteRemember the lamp shaped like a woman's leg in that movie? I saw in a flyer that came last week that you can buy replicas of that exact lamp. Expensive too!!
ReplyDeleteNice that your snow is gone.
I loved this movie too! And I often say "you'll shoot your eye out" just to be funny
ReplyDeleteMy yarn for the Christmas Eve sock cast on this year is named "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out"! LOL! You are always on top of things....mailed ornaments already? You are good! Love the eye glass cords. I think a guy would like them! I like them too but I don't use them.
