Slower

I took it even slower and easier yesterday… well except for one thing that was not easy at all.

A sideways hard as a rock boulder of a turd…and I have been taking stool softner.  I felt quite accomplished after that achievement that only took 1/2 hour maybe a bit longer and just a few tears streaming down my face.

I have transitioned to over the counter pain relief…Tylenol and Aleve.  That PM Aleve makes me sleep at least 14 hours….and then after that I still took a nap.

Today we will attempt to wash my hair or cut it all off. I will wear a bra to my Doctor’s appointment.

24 more hours until I can remove the large bandage.

Far Guy and Chance are troopers, but I think they would like me to be “all better” real soon.

  1. Sorry for the constipation on top of it all! That can be very painful! Prune juice is a good one for that and plenty of water too. Plus, remember if they have you on antibiotics it kills the good bacteria too so eat yogurt so you don't get a yeast infection. Dr. Sam signing off! LOL!

  4. You have been so faithful to comment on my blog and I have been not so good(was going to say "crap" but you might not have appreciated the pun) about commenting on yours. My husband eats psyllium, oat bran, wheat bran, and flax at various times throughout the day to help him with his problem and it does work. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  5. I guess that's because you haven't been as active as normal? Glad everything came out all right. Finally. :-)

  6. Hope the recovery continues and that each day gets better! Even when you get the large bandage off, please take it slow (that might be hard for you!)

  7. Ah yes, I can relate! Opioids after surgery definitely cause constipation. Try adding some CLEAR fiber powder to your morning coffee. It's tasteless and works like a charm.

  9. When I took a tumble and my lung folded onto itself I had that same hard turd thing....even with a stool softener...it was hideous. I truly understand your pain!

  10. And it isn't from being inactive it's from the narcotics they give you for the pain. I don't know how the drug addicted ever get to poop!!

  11. Anesthetics and various medications often do that. Just what you don't need to deal with. Always happened to me after surgeries--and I've had IBS for decades. It's not the being inactive. That's why no matter what you are in the hospital for they don't like to let anyone leave before they have had a BM. Excluding outpatient visits, of course...but same issues apply for outpatients.

  12. Sorry I haven't stopped by since your surgery to wish you well. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon...and all the problems get better. Always something! isn't it!

  13. Those pain pills will stop a person up for sure! Eat lots of raisins and other raw fruit and of course LOTS of fluids. It's bad enough to recover from surgery without that kind of side effect.

  14. You obviously have not lost your sense of humor. I especially liked your comment on drug addicts being 'full of it'.
I hope it all gets easier soon.

  15. Hang in there. Sometimes, that's about all you can do.

  16. Oh yes, pain relievers make boulders... every time!! :-( So glad all is progressing, in more ways than one, and that your recovery is predictable and steady. This too shall pass! My thoughts are with you still. ~Andrea

  17. Nothing like general anesthetic and opioids to put a crimp in the digestive system. It's always a relief when things start moving again.

  18. I loved the attempt to wash your hair or cut it all off ,comment. Made me laugh.
Take it easy and try not to do too much too soon.
