I am not so handy these days.
The surgery went well. A small tumor was removed along with the carpal tunnel release procedure.
x marks the hand to be repaired
Far Guy and Chance are taking good care of me. The pain is considerable but I will survive.
I must wear the large bandage for five days, it is bulky.
The General Surgeon saw me one day and scheduled the surgery for two days later. So I didn’t get everything done that I wanted to accomplish around the house… but such is life.
I am glad to begin the healing process. One of the Nurses was a little cranky and had no sense of humor at all other than that we were treated kindly. The surgeon is a kind gentleman who placed both of Far Guy’s ports.
Uh-oh, I see it's your right hand. Assuming you are right handed, that's going to make things harder for awhile. I hope your recovery speeds right along and you are back to woodcarving and typing in no time. Take care, Connie.
ReplyDeleteProbably best to get your dominant hand over with first--if you are right handed. They are doing the other one, too, right? Will make the second one easier. Take it easy and let FarGuy take care of you. I assume he got the pain pills this time. ;) Hang in there! Love and hugs from Fargo! :)
ReplyDeleteNope just my right, my left doesn't have a problem yet:)
Deletehallelujah!! That's wonderful!! So often it is both--one surgery right after the other. Whew! Good to hear. :) :)
DeleteHope it's not too painful and that you heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteYou'll see improvement (sometimes very small) every day, but each day will be better than the previous one. Take care
ReplyDeleteI hope things go well and that you make a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI had my right hand in a cast for 5 weeks, and I did get better and being a "lefty", but it was at times quite frustrating. Hope your healing time goes well!
ReplyDeleteSending healing thoughts your way! Just make Far Guy and Chance do all your chores for awhile. :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you were able to get it done as quickly as you did. I hear of so many people who have had the procedure and never had trouble again. I read that Tolkien the writer of all those Hobbitt books could not hold a pen or pencil in his hands and typed all of his books. You should be in better shape now once the healing is done but need to let the healing take place first before you get back to all those projects.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a very speedy recovery! To be pain free again will be HUGE!
ReplyDeleteJust sit back and take it easy. I think Far Guy and Chance can handle things while you are recuperating. Hope you are back up and pain free real soon. I've been keeping you in my prayers and will continue to do so.
ReplyDeleteHope the Pain RX was filled right away this time. Chance writes a good post too. Take good care, heal, feel better, hugs.
ReplyDeleteJoy
Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSending you good wishes on your recovery. I'm glad to read that you don't have a problem with CT in your left hand, too. I'm glad you didn't have to wait too long between seeing the surgeon and having the surgery. Hang in there,
ReplyDeleteHang in there. The pain does go away. My wrist problem was not exactly the same but I remember the first time afterward when I went in for a checkup. The doctor said, "And you thought you would be finished with the pain." He was apologetic. But I hung on. At the next checkup, the pain was much less...less than before the surgury. And now it has been gone for years. So glad I had it done. Before, the pain was a constant irritant.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel less pain each day and that healing is fast. Being unable to do all the things you want to do is going to be hard I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're going to survive!
ReplyDeleteIt will be very inconvenient for a while, but you have good caretakers and helpers.
ReplyDeleteGlad the worst is behind you, Connie. At least that's what I'm hoping. Get well quick, please. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad it is over with and the healing begins! So sorry you are in pain though...take some drugs! LOL! You need them and deserve them. There is no reason in this day and age to suffer needlessly. Hugs ~ Sam....P.S. Have some of that chicken noodle soup you made...I'm still drooling over that post!
