I have a happy place. It is a place where I have my camera and some time on my hands.
I was thrilled to see this field in sunflower rotation again.
Getting ready for the big show!
Bees in flight!
Another car drove by and parked. A lovely young woman asked me to take her photo in the field…she had to show me how to work her camera phone…as you recall I don’t do phones.
She appreciated the sunflower field as much as I did. We chatted away for a while. She is a Senior with one semester left at UND. She has a phone in her camera but she and her Mom are Nikon people…she also takes photos with film. Her name was Rebecca. I told her about our Grandson Noah attending UND and moving into an apartment almost on campus. She said she wished she had lived closer to campus and that she should have attended all the events that are set up the first week of school for students to make friends and get aquainted. She was excited about finishing her last semester and then going to the UK. She was in her happy place too!
Some of the heads are beginning to point downward under the weight of the seeds forming.
So I got to be in a happy place for a little while and meet someone who enjoys photography as much as I do.
Never can tell who you will meet out standing in a field.
I love the time of year they bloom...so bright! Glad you had an enjoyable day, and meeting a new friend is always special.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you got to spend some time in your "happy place" and met someone so nice. The pictures are fantastic. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson planted sunflowers 5 years ago and they are still coming up from seed.
ReplyDeleteI've never stood so close to a sunflower field as the ones here are a distance off the road. I can see why it is hr happy place! Bee-yoo-ti-ful photos, Connie. I feel some notecards coming on!
ReplyDeleteYes, for some reason I've begun to associate you with sunflowers, and especially all that yellow! Glad to hear about your new friend. Great pictures! :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos as well as a chance happening and a meaningful conversation - sounds like a perfect afternoon.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you for the sunflowers! I thought from the last post that you weren't going to share them with us. The few we have aren't blooming yet and I love them so.
ReplyDeleteI do love that last line. Outstanding!
I think fields of sunflowers ARE happy places.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and happy post!
ReplyDeleteSweet encounter, joyous post!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Yes, you can never tell who you might meet. :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems that most of us flower people get along well and can talk like we've known each other forever. Love the photos and glad you had such a nice outing!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a field of sunflowers to attract your attention.
ReplyDeleteThose sunflower fields are so inviting. I can see why you call them your happy place!
ReplyDeleteOut in the delta near here, there used to be lots of land planted in sunflowers, but not so much anymore. It was quite a sight to see them all in bloom. Every now and then, I still see some volunteers along the roadside from those days...
Beautiful! I told you rural life is so interesting....only in a sunflower field would you meet someone who shares your joy!
ReplyDeleteLovely fields of one of the most cheerful and useful flowers!
ReplyDeleteI need a field of sunflowers to look at every day. That would help to keep me cheerful.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of the sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
