Yesterday we attended a Train and Toy Show. I enjoyed it but not as much as Far Guy. After I was done shopping I went out to the lobby and found a comfy chair to people watch and wait for the shopping to be done. Seems like I was the Biggest Shopper of the day.
I thought for sure that this would be coming home with us…I suppose because it was a reproduction…it stayed there.
I like looking at the tin toys.
This is a plate used from 1940-1969 the pattern is Great Northern Mountains and Flowers. I thought this guy was way overpriced…oh well if I ever see any at a garage sale I will snap them right up!
So what did I buy? A comic book to read in my comfy chair in the lobby and a gift for Far Guy.
Now he has more little people to paint. The box is probably worth as much as the people inside.
Hi Connie, Hope you are beginning to feel better. My mother was born in 1929. She always talked about a tin, wind-up Popeye toy she had. I hope you find the Northern Mountain and Flower pattern dishes at a yard sale. That is perfect for you with the columbines. I'll look for you here in GA, too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun outing. I usually end up looking rather than buying at antique shows.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun outing.
ReplyDeleteThis would have really appealed to my husband. He was a collector of toys. And I have plenty of tractors and trains to decide what to do with someday!
ReplyDeleteHey, I remember the Gene Autry comics. Also Roy Rogers.
ReplyDeleteHope You are feeling much better,I got my shots in the arm.
ReplyDeleteWhat did Far Guy buy?
He bought me dinner:)
DeleteMy arm is finally over being sore from the flu shot. But I still feel a little tired. Hope you're feeling better. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am finally feeling better but still tired. Thanks DJan, I am glad your arm is better:)
DeleteIt sounds like a great place to buy and to sit. Do you have google chrome? If so I could share all my 125 train pictures with the train guy. I will post a lot of them in my blogs as he days go on but not everything.
ReplyDeleteMay we display the header for here and Far Side of Fifty Photos on our new site directory? As it is now, the site title (linked back to your home page) is listed, and we think displaying the header will attract more attention. In any event, we hope you will come by and see what is going on at SiteHoundSniffs.com.
ReplyDeleteAntique shows are fun when you are a collector. Do you have a comic book collection?
ReplyDeletei only collect Gene Autry comic books :)
DeleteA train and toy show sounds like a fun place to browse. I think I would also leave my DH and go sit down somewhere after a while. Nice that Far Guy bought dinner and you didn't have to cook.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're on the mend.
Hiya Connie! Thanks for giving us a post we can "choo-choo" on! The train stuff is fun to look at. Love the Texaco pump replicas...probably because I remember them.
ReplyDeleteLove the Gene Autry comic book! I used to get up on Saturday morning and watch Gene and Roy and Dale and the Cisco Kid and the Lone Ranger and Flash Gordon! LOL! Great buys and I will look for that dish here too. I really liked the replica....reminds me of my Uncle Buck's gas station where as a kid I could always get a cold pop for free!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. I love the plate with the columbine and mountains on it! Never seen the pattern before.
