Quiet Day

Friday was a quiet day spent at home, working on projects and going for a drive in the evening.

I saw a Mayfly on the window screen.

Mayfly

Such a dainty bug.

On our drive we saw Showy Lady’s Slippers that are coming to an end.

Ladys Slippers coming to an end

Not nearly as pretty as they are in bud.

The small farmers are haying.

Slow Traffic

Makes for some slow traffic in our neighborhood.

  3. I hope that trucker doesn't lose that load of hay. It looks rather tippy. Wonder if it is tied down somehow.

  4. I'm always nervous behind those kind of vehicles. Looks tippy to me, too.
Sounds like a lovely, quiet day, though. :)

  5. I remembered this quote by Carl Sagan and couldn't resist referring to it!
"The lifetime of a human being is measured by decades, the lifetime of the Sun is a hundred million times longer. Compared to a star, we are like mayflies, fleeting ephemeral creatures who live out their lives in the course of a single day." Thanks for posting the picture of the delicate mayfly!

  6. I like quiet days when I can sit in the back yard and watch the sky for a while.

  7. Hiya Connie! Taking my nose out of my reading to come and visit you. Oh gosh! When I saw the hay truck, the first thing that came to mind was when I had taken my mother for a drive and we came up behind a truck taking corn to a canning factory. It was on a back road, not busy. The truck hit some bumps and a few cobs fell off. I turned to my mom and said "looks like dinner to me!" We stopped and picked up what had dropped and cooked the corn for dinner! The waning Lady Slippers was such a sad photo though. You sure have a great patch of them to keep an eye on!

  8. I miss the haying and the sweet smell of the honeysuckle that grew on the back fence.

  9. I love to take an evening drive. The hay would make me sneeze like crazy!
I like your header photo and your glass flower creations. I visited the Humane Society thrift store last week and someone had donated some pretty glass flowers similar to yours. They also had a lot of photograph greeting cards that were very pretty. I hope you two are enjoying the weekend. It is so hot here and we are trying to pack up the contents of the garage ugh!

  10. So that's what those bugs are! There was one on the screen the other night and I wondered what it was...thank you! I miss the smell of fresh mown hay...one of my all-time favorite smells!
