Our Lilac was damaged by the frost back in May. Those leaves turned brown and I figured that it would not bloom this year…but low and behold…finally some blooms.
I think this is Syringa x prestonia ‘Donald Wyman’ a late lilac.
Not your traditional Lilac but the only one in our yard. I believe this one was just a tiny spindly stick when Far Guy planted it.
I mowed yesterday, I missed mowing for a few days because of the rain…but now I am all caught up again. Far Guy does the trimming around the trees. One or two more weeks of pollen covering everything and we can put it behind us again this year.
A very late lilac. I can almost smell it! We are smelling magnolias and gardenias around here on our walks.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad it survive. The Lilac is my all time favorite flower. I can't walk by any lilac bush/ tree without stopping to smell the flowers.
ReplyDeleteOur lilacs were early this year and gone before they usually come out. It was brief but glorious. Glad your pretty bloom survived. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love lilac time! Glad yours bloomed.
ReplyDeleteI have the same lilac in my yard, and it always blooms in June.
ReplyDeleteOur lilac is blooming away in purple symphony. Hope this one of yours survives!
ReplyDeleteMy lilacs were pathetic this year due to the frost. Keeping up with the mowing is a challenge, for sure!

ReplyDeleteWe used to have a lilac bush and the hubby decided that it wasn't doing well, and it needed to come out.
ReplyDeleteIt maybe a late Lilac but it is a pretty one . Hubs and I take turns trimming and cutting the grass mostly cause I am home and he still works away from home lol ! Not a lot of rain here but enough to help the gardens out . Thanks for sharing lovely photos, Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteOur Lilac is just finally opening its flowers too.
ReplyDeleteGlad your lilac survived! Hope it flourishes now.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, the pollen. It was so heavy this year. I am still cleaning up from the coating on everything. I just thought about that today as I cleaned one last thing on the patio.
ReplyDeleteMy lilacs have frozen out the last two years and although I had hopes they'd bloom at least a little, they didn't :-(.
ReplyDeleteI had my first bloom and I hadn't even planted it yet...still haven't! But I mowed today after all the rain we've had it needed it and I had mowed the day before it rained but then it rained for almost a week! LOL! I still need to go back out and water, do some planting and paint....never done!
