This is an old photo from the photo album of Great Aunt Frances or Aunt Skinnie as she was affectionately known. The photo was taken in 1922 when she was 19 years old and Jimmie (Uncle Jim to us) was just a babe in arms.
This old photo album is a real treasure.
:-)I sure wish I was known as Aunt Skinnie, but it's not likely or even appropriate. Love the old picture.
ReplyDeleteAre we talking Jim Henderson?
ReplyDeleteYes indeed
DeleteHow cute. And only 19 with a child. Some families are really big on nicknames.
ReplyDeleteShe is his Aunt
DeleteLook at that baby smiling, and those baby booties! I used to love those gift sets of a little sweater and booties.
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing picture—so sharp and well preserved. Very pretty woman!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo, and yes I agree, so well preserved!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is a true treasure. I'm glad that someone took great care to preserve it.
ReplyDeleteLove how happy the baby is in this photo.
They really used to bundle up the kids and spend a lot of time knitting and crocheting outfits, didn't they? :)
ReplyDeleteDo you know why she was called Aunt Skinnie? It's an intriguing name and doesn't seem like short for Frances!
ReplyDeleteShe was very thin!
DeleteSkinnie? Now there's a family name!
ReplyDeleteReally? Not in my family. Mind you, I did have an Uncle Evelyn. And an Aunt Evelyn, and a Great Granny Evelyn. So each family makes its own rules I guess.
DeleteLovely photo, and Jimmie was a happy baby!
ReplyDeleteAwesome smile on Jimmie and look at all that knitting or crocheting!mInlike how the corners of the photo are held.
ReplyDeleteJust love old photo's of family!
ReplyDeleteYou managed to answer my questions already ( through your answers to previous commenters) Aunt Skinnie doesn't look very skinny but maybe she was as a child? Also wondered if Jimmie was her child and you answered that one too. I love old photos.

ReplyDeletea nice look back
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy baby he seemed to be!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, and I love the handwritten script.
