Some of the prettiest flowers this time of year are at the cemetery.
Phlox subulata at Riverside.
A beautiful Fern-leaf Peony ( Paeonia tenuifolia) in bud at Linnell.
I was glad to see that this plant was untouched by the frost the other morning. I enjoy this plant every year. It marks the grave of a young neighborhood boy who was five when he died. In a few days the flowers will be open.
phlox is a welcomed spring arrival
ReplyDeleteLove that pretty phlox, and that's a sad story about the young boy who died at five. I hope you will show me the flowers once they open.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. I enjoyed the photos of your granddaughters in their prom gowns, too. I intended to get back to your blogs about them and say how pretty they were.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look so nice! I saw news about fires in your area- sounded like the firefighters were on top of things and took care of several fires. Did you see effects of this?

ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a fern leaf peony. It's a very eye catching plant.
ReplyDeleteOh I love phlox! What a nice colorful patch you have a the cemetery.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers - I love that ferny peony bush!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen a fern leaf peony around here. I know they like cold winters
ReplyDeleteto warm here in winter.
Made an early trip. Wise. I don't think I've ever seen a fern-leaf peony. What a beauty--and it's not even opened up yet. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers - I am envious of the fern peony but it is "special" so gives it all the more reason to be beautiful! Mom and I still need to make our trip for the cemetery cleanup :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a fern peony. It is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers really are pretty. I've never seen anything like that fern-leaf Peony.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, These are such pretty flowers. I remember one Mother's Day riding thru several cemeteries looking for ancestor's graves and seeing so many old fashioned flowers. I'm trying to catch up after having computer problems. Using an old spare computer!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers. I'm trying to get that Phlox to thrive in my garden but so far it is barely hanging in there. In your cemetery it obviously is very happy.
ReplyDeleteOur Fernleaf Peony is just about to bloom too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Those fern leaf peonies are very special.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of that type of peony. It's beautiful! Is it very tiny? Hard to gauge the size from the photo. Looks like a miniature.
ReplyDeleteJust a little smaller than normal peonies...but NOT a miniature
DeleteWhat beautiful phlox! I used to have a fern leaf peony on the farm....every year it had one flower....only one. The one in your picture looks lots healthier!
ReplyDeleteBoth are blooming here too.
