I began writing on blogspot on September 5, 2008. At that time I wondered what would happen to the blog entries and worried that someday they would all be lost. I wrote the same exact thing and published both wordpress and blogspot with live writer. I published with wordpress for six years then I abandoned the blog that appeared in the Fargo Forum online. It was like giving up a baby… but I had to make the decision because they wouldn’t allow me more photo storage.
Live Writer was the best software ever to write blogs with. Now it is called Open Live Writer and has a few bugs which may or may not get worked out, some wonderful Microsoft volunteers took it over and are working on it.
So anyways I have reached another milestone. Eight years…hardly seems possible.
Yellow Lady’s Slippers or Cypripedium parviflorum
I have thought about it and I still have some stories to tell and photos to share. So I will continue. After all I am retired…the evenings get long up here in Minnesota especially in the winter. Television is not all that exciting most nights. I read, play a few card/word games online and write the blog. I am a night person so most nights I am up past midnight anyway. I do my best sleeping in the morning.
Other than Wistful Wednesday I have no idea what I will write about until I sit down at the computer. Most times I just think..okay what do I want to share with my best friend, my children and my grands? Sometimes I am just bitchy…I write it all down and then delete it. Then I can go on and write something nice…most times.
My brothers say I have no tact very little tact. Some days that is very true, I tell it the way I see it….I used to say I tell it like it is…but my husband says that is not true, so I just go with his flow.
Showy Lady’s Slipper or Cypripedium reginae Minnesota’s State Flower
Thanks for reading! See ya’ll tomorrow!
Congrats on the anniversary. The Lady Slipper's are what got me here and I love to see them on your anniversary post. Yours is one of my most favorite blogs to read. I'm from the Twin Cites, here in Minnesota, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Connie! We started blogging about the same time. And Happy New Year..;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary again!!!! You are wonderful to persevere. I love reading most of what you write. You have much in common with many of us and enough diversity in some things to help educate us, e.g., your festivals and some of the foods you cook. You are brilliant about flowers. You learned more about them than I ever did in school! I sure hope you both are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you in strong enough words how much I love your blog. It's like visiting a neighbor when I come over here, and sometimes you are eloquent and wordy, and other times not. It's all the same to me, I just love them all. Your words tell me who you are and that's a good friend. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are continuing. I have learned a lot from your blog and feel like I have a friend in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Hope you and Gene are feeling much better. The two of you have had a rough year with health issues. Really enjoy seeing the photos of your grandchildren and also those of Chance.
ReplyDeleteOne of my all time favorite blogs! :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm a new reader who's been reading the past entries to catch up, and I love your blog. So glad you are continuing it! Maybe sometimes you should go ahead and publish those "bitchy" blog posts?!
ReplyDeleteNo Tact is correct, you Grandma Drewes are peas in the same pod on that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I appreciate that you are real and enjoy reading every day. I don't always agree with you, but hey, it's your blog! And I get a view into another person's life that is very different from mine, and at the same time very similar in many ways......same generation, same marital status, same love of kids and grands, etc. and I love my shiny brites!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I am so glad you will continue to blog as I love reading your blog. And I do love all your pictures. Hope you and Far Guy are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI discovered your blog shortly after you started then. We've been buddies for a long time and shared many ups and downs. Retired and mostly homebound, I treasure our blog friendship. I know your grandchildren will treasure these posts/photos/history you share. I always think of you when I see the Lady's Slipper! God bless you and FG in the New Year (and hugs to Chance!)
ReplyDeleteWow! 8 years is a long time to be writing on your blog, but I enjoy your entries. I've only been on a year and a half, and I already think sometimes I might give it up. Then I'm inspired by folks like you online. Blessings in the new year, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI am 1/2 a week behind! So one comment for the posts I missed. LOVE your holiday picture/card. You guys are too cute. those kids are growing still like weeds. How does that happen? Glad all the auto incidents turned out okay and also that you are feeling better. Hoping FG is better soon as well! Congrats on your 8th blog anniversary and you do a great job!
ReplyDeleteHi:
ReplyDeleteI like reading you telling things like they are! Please don't change a thing.
We in the Twin Cities are waiting for a big snow here that is to start this afternoon sometime. Who knows how much we will get? We never know till it's over. However, we have had only one plowable snowfall this winter and I think that was only about 2 inches. We are overdue!
Shirley H.
I always enjoy your blog, so continue to be as tactless as you please.
ReplyDelete8 years of adapting to whatever the changes of blogging software throws you is a sign that you really enjoy it (and the friends you made/make while doing so!)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are a long way from "written out" - I know I've struggled of late with finding something fresh to share. I'm sure there will be - just need to be patient!
I began 9/08/08 and have recently considered no longer doing it. Maybe be just the seasonal blahs.
ReplyDeleteI used live blogger for a while but just drafts from inside the blog now. I'm not too tech savvy.
Congratulations on eight years. That's a lot of words and I've enjoyed all I've read.
WaHoo and Happy Blog Anniversary! I've been reading for ages - not sure how many years or how I even found your blog(s), but sure glad I did.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on eight years! I'm about a year behind you, but certainly don't blog daily any more. You are to be commended.
ReplyDeleteEight years is quite an accomplishment. I don't even know how long I have been at it. Blogs are an education at times as the readers pick up things that they didn't know from the area or about anything. My kids are stinkers as they read my blogs so they don't have to call. I know sometimes the oldest son reads and catches up on our lives before he calls so he can get in on the present times of our lives. I have collected bloggers from different parts of the country as a way of visiting different states of the country. I think you should just keep blogging until they run out of electricity. I figure when my mind and eyes are finally done I will just stop. Congrats on keeping on.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on eight years. Keep on blogging. Keep on telling it the way it is. Throw in a little bitchy from time to time. You express things on your own terms and that's why you have such a great blog to follow.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 8-year blogiversary! Glad you've been blogging and tellin' it like it is. I enjoy your frankness and stories about your family.
ReplyDeleteI can never remember when I started blogging, so I had to check. It will be eight years in April! I don't remember when I found you either, my Minnesota Blog Friend, but it has been a while now. I always enjoy reading what you have to say. As DJan said, it's like visiting a neighbor. I have been a big city girl for a long time but my roots are in the country and small towns. Your posts remind me of that.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea when I started my blog but I think you are way ahead of me! Be grateful for Minnesota winters....I think more people could use a good winter to make them slow down and think! LOL! Here I spend my winter nights with the weather radio and last night it woke me up about 5 times for flood warnings but thank goodness it wasn't applicable to me. I always love reading your blog because you are like sitting down and having coffee with a good friend. I feel like part of your family now as I know them...don't worry...I know I'm not! LOL! When I get up North though I may take it in my head to come up there and visit! Be afraid...be very afraid! I will come bearing gifts though and I won't ask to sleep over. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 8 years! You amaze me that you can come up with something to say every day. I like to hear you tell it the way you think it is, as I am that way myself. I do not suffer fools gladly! Keep on blogging:)
ReplyDeleteLike the others who have commented, I am amazed that you find so many subjects to post about. Please keep right on. And congrats on eight years!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your dedication! And you always find something interesting to share too. Two great pictures!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've kept writing all these years and happy too that I'm not the only soul that rants away in a cranky mood and then deletes it...I've been told I've not tact either.
ReplyDeleteI figured that! :)
DeleteCongrats on reaching the milestone of eight years. I love your blog because it does seem you're writing to a friend, to share the happenings of your life. The best way I can describe is sharing "herstory". Hope to continue to read your blog for many more years..including into my own retirement.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on those eight years of blogging! That's consistency, along with being real. Hope you find lots more to tell "like it is."
