I am a list maker. I make lists on paper and in my head. I usually write my lists in pencil…easier to erase a bad idea that way. We have an ongoing grocery list on the fridge and we both try to add items as they are used up. We also have a list of menus on the fridge…just incase I have a long afternoon nap and someone else wants to cook.
I usually have a project list. It has been completed so now I need a day or three to figure out what is most important…something or nothing.
Perhaps some old projects will be revisited…or maybe not.
Forget-me-nots July 2015
About ten or twelve years ago I planted some Forget-me-nots and this past summer the conditions were just right for some dormant seeds to bloom. The tiny flowers are a beautiful shade of blue. Just goes to show you that sometimes projects that you think are complete are not…OR sometimes projects have lasting effects years later…I am certain my grocery list or list of menus do not qualify.
Perhaps it is still the time change…I don’t feel like making a list…you know Thanksgiving is next week…BUT many things could be accomplished in the ten days before then…or not.
I see a few lessons in the forget-me-nots. I would probably have forgotten I even planted them in 12 years! I am a lister, too. My newest list is "birds seen from my South Carolina home deck" and I'm happy to report 26 different species so far! Including a flock of migrating bluebirds yesterday morning.
ReplyDeleteBlue flowers are so special.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have my Thanksgiving list. In addition to the "what we're eating, and what I'm buying" list, I also made one last year of the chores needed to get us to the finish line. This was mainly to remind the other resident here that there's a bit more to do than bringing up chairs from the basement.
Morning, love those pretty blue flowers so.... I'm not a list person, I would forget it anyway.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that the forget-me-nots decided to bloom. Forget-me-nots were one of Tasha Tudor's favorite flowers, so I wanted some too. I planted but they never did anything. That was years ago. I'm still stacking up lists on the kitchen cabinet and crossing off something ever now and then.
ReplyDeleteI always make a grocery list, then of course, I still buy out the store! I always need to make lists, if I don't I forget, I think my brain is not functioning correctly. I don't write, I forget! I love forget- me -knots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful For-get-me-nots. Beautiful story.
ReplyDeleteLists and notes keep me focused on projects and errands, and I love crossing things off of the list.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI need to make lists and notes just so I won't forget something. And it is a good feeling to be able to scratch something off a list.
ReplyDeleteMy lists have gotten scattered and lost amid the mess on my desk. Haven't had the time or energy to sort the papers and make one good new list. Maybe tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteForget-me-nots bloom here every Spring. They certainly seed themselves, all I ever do is yank them out when they get spindly and almost done.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of you completing your project list. I won't live long enough to complete mine:)
I learned years back that seed can stay dormant for long periods of times. It is strange though that they finally did bloom. I am amaze as to how the wild morning glories survive the treatment that they get and they still can find a way to come up. I use to make summer lists and cross of things as they were completed. Back then I knew that I would not get it all done but it gave me vision.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen the Forget-me-not , love the blue. Your hard winters make for some lovely spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteHaving completed the lists - why not give yourself some time off before the big Thanksgiving push?
ReplyDeleteShirley H.
Lovely shot of the flowers. I hate lists - I prefer to keep everything slightly chaotically in my head... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI make lists also. I got the idea from my mother who made lists, and she got it from her mother who also made lists...how do others function without an list. I just don't know. :)

I'm not a lister, but maybe I should be.
ReplyDeleteNo lists for me. Wait! I'm up to 213 on my Minnesota bird list. An 322 on my U.S. list. Lots of unusual birds in Colorado, Arizona and Florida....:)
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm also a list-maker. If I don't write it down, it doesn't get done.
ReplyDeleteI am not a list maker. My husband is, though, and I see them strewn around with dozens of things written on them, sometimes crossed out or not. I have tried to make lists, but I forget about them, so they don't do me any good at all. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love making lists and have them all over the place. Maybe I need a list of my lists. I do have my Life list of birds I've ever seen and one year I listed all the birds I saw each day but that got very tedious. Not sure I made it the whole year.
ReplyDeleteForget-me-nots must like our climate because like Karen I have them pop up everywhere and usually pull them out when they're finished blooming before too many can drop seeds.
I make "to do" lists. I enjoy crossing items off as the tasks get completed. When most items on a list are completed, I transfer the remaining tasks over to a new list. From time to time, I have a task that never seems to get done--and I eventually decide that it just doesn't need to ever be completed and stop transferring it to new lists.
ReplyDeleteWe are both list makers, probably because I have taught tom to be one. We have the running grocery list, the other shopping list, and the to do list, which is mostly garden projects, We just completed a to do list today, driving all over the area to get things checked off on this stormy day. It's also time to revise our garden list. Some things will now wait for spring.
ReplyDeleteBeen a list maker practically since I learned to write--and I have no doubt I had lists in my head before that--LOL!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty little flowers they are. :)
What a valuable reminder those Forget-me-nots are about the unanticipated lasting effects of some projects. Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteI love Forget-Me-Nots...one of my favorites yet I have never grown them. Good for you! I think they are just precious.
ReplyDeleteI too am a list maker from the time I was able to write. Every once in awhile I'll run across an old list from years ago and it's like waking up memories I'd forgotten about. I also have a list on the frig for when I run out of something (and even then I have backups) and a menu so I don't forget my favorite dishes! LOL! I wish someone would take a turn while I nap but I haven't been able to talk any of the girls into it....yet. Ha! Ha!
I swear we were separated at birth!
