Evening comes so early it is still afternoon.
Chance and I sat out long before supper and watched the sunset through the trees. Ribbons of pink mingled with the blue sky. The day started out dreary and cloudy but then the sun broke through the clouds! It was just about 60 F or 15C eh! It was almost summer like.
We could hear Mason and Anna next door enjoying the last of the day. The childhood chatter mingled with the noise from the highway. Noise easily filters through the naked trees…cars slowing for the corner and then racing down the road for two miles before the next corner.
We checked the placement of the Snowstick for 2015-2016. Ready, set don’t snow yet!
I should have had it out last week when it snowed! Whatever… it is ready now.
I threw the ball for Chance until he was tired. Then we settled down on the patio to watch the solar lights come on slowly one by one…one flickers and has been flickering nightly for about 20 minutes and then it just goes out. Have you ever tried to take apart one of those little suckers…other than a pinched wire they somehow get water inside and won’t work after that….at least that is my diagnosis.
I might put a couple of glass flowers out by that wagon wheel…no one should be flinging snow in that direction. I will have to make a decision soon…maybe tomorrow.
Such gentle colors in the sunset, perfect for sitting outside and having a think. I do hope your snow stick stays brown for awhile yet!
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a gorgeous day to sit on the porch and just watch life go by. Sunset does seem to come quite early but that is okay because it is again light out when I get up in the morning. It was a balmy 68 degrees here yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in that first picture, and I know what you mean about how the sounds carry when the leaves are off the trees. There is a cold breeze but the temperature is pretty mild here, too :-)
ReplyDeleteIronically, many "solar" lights need batteries anymore. You might check to see if yours has a battery that needs replaced.
ReplyDeleteNo rush. Enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts.
ReplyDelete"Naked trees" - I like that. You're right about solar lights - of course, having a bit of sun helps, so they don't perform well in parts of the UK!
ReplyDeleteWhen the little dog gets me up early morning I have been liking to see the clear skies and bright stars. It is nice when the wind dies down. Our small dog is on the other time and his alarm clock is exactly an hour different now that we could now get up. I take him out and go back to bed and wait for the alarm. Walking Barney last night was pleasant as it was quiet and still here too. Not very cold.
ReplyDeleteThe snow can stay away until the 3rd week of December, please! It's a El Nino winter so they are saying warmer than usual- but that could come in the form of heavy wet snow instead of extra cold dry fluffy snow.
ReplyDeleteLike you it's still afternoon when it becomes evening...sucks.

Good on you for getting out enjoying your pleasant weather. 15 C eh, is very pleasant.
ReplyDeleteNight time slips up on me. I have to keep watch and get little Jewel and her chicks back in the pen before it gets too dark. I don't know why this time change has been harder to adjust to than ever before, for me anyway.
ReplyDeleteYeah....sigh....I hate the days after the time switch when it gets dark by 5 pm.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great peaceful day you had...me? I am overwhelmed with "the move" because regardless if this house works out or not I AM moving and packing as I type! LOL! Ah, sunsets and sunrises and the peace and pace of rural life. So pretty! I can't wait to get up there but I will.
ReplyDeleteI buy those solar lights and ask myself every time, why did I do it!?
ReplyDeleteBennie said when the snow stick comes out you know it is winter snow time soon.
ReplyDeleteI just want you to know how much I appreciate your blog. You are always there and when my other regulars are not, I know that I will enjoy reading yours! Maybe you won't be able to do that forever...but for now....I just want you to know how much I love coming here and reading the latest every day. It's like coming to visit an old friend! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteYes I am good at babbling on about not much. and you are welcome! Thanks for reading:)
DeletePlease put in a shorter snowstick!!!! Can I have two of those sunsets and a decaf latte, please? Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diane. You manage to post every day, something I find next to impossible. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteYou almost had it warmer today than we did! But to think you missed getting your snow stick in the ground before the first snow...incomprehensible. I can't handle snow in December, much less before November even gets started!
ReplyDeletePretty evening sky and yeah for the warm day you enjoyed. We've had rain for a week now and it is so dreary and we are stir crazy!
