Moon

Well our Supermoon was obscured by clouds.

Supermoon obliterated by clouds

We went by Steve and Jos to wait out the clouds.

Moon Sept 27

By that time it was dark and more clouds moved in so we went home.

Back at home I sat outside and finally got a shot or two during the eclipse.

Eclipse

Not perfect photos but it was fun to try. It was very quiet out, the crickets were making their nightly noises and Bailey barked at me a few times.  I could hear people talking down at the lake. I saw a few shooting stars….and it sure was dark out there during totality.  It was a beautiful night to be outside…no bugs and about 65 F or 18 C eh!

  1. I had the same problem with clouds....it was high in the sky before it cleared up. I say you did a fine job with the eclipse photo...

  3. We had the same problem with a cloud cover. Never did get to see the moon until this morning when I got up. Had to see the photos on the internet. Guess this means I finally had a good nights sleep. Your photos were very good. Living in the city it never gets that dark or that quiet.

  4. Yay! That's a good picture, Connie. Unfortunately I got distracted by a show and ended up missing it! :-)

  5. You got a great shot! GN and I stood outside and watched. We could hear which neighbor's were outside watching, too. I love free entertainment!

  6. Mom and I watched it as well and it was really cool. I agree it was really dark out there when it was totally in eclipse! Fun none the less.

  7. You saw more than we did, our clouds were so thick we saw nothing.

  8. Your photos turned out excellent. We were cloudless here --the moon was just stunning. I hope to post a photo or two tomorrow.

  9. The evening was really beautiful. We got to see the supermoon before the clouds came in to cover the eclipse.

  12. Nice photo, Connie. Sorry you didn't have a clear view through the whole thing, but glad you could enjoy the night and get some photos after all. Such a cool event.

  13. It was way too cloudy here. We saw nothing. Your pictures are good. I was wondering if you sat outside in the darkness alone. It's silly how afraid I am of the dark.

  14. You got yo se more eclipse than I did. I was able to watch the last 1/4 so it was close. I'll only be ninety three when the next one happens!

  17. Well, it looks like the Bostonians got to sport their photos, but just like you, we had a lovely display of cloud cover. Oh, well...at least if it could rain, it might make up for spoiling the show...

  18. A lake, the quiet darkness, a few shooting stars and even crickets singing? Who needs a super moon? You did get some good pics. I went out a couple of times to watch the eclipse. Luckily it was clear. 18 C. eh? Nice one.

  19. We were above a noisy freeway with lots of other folds and it was getting cold, but we did have a god view of the moon.

  20. I really like that second photo, it captures the reality of the super moon far better than some of the straight astronomical shots. It was a pleasant night here as well - we avoided the clouds but had some night mist.

  21. Clouded over here, too, when I tried to see the eclipse. I like the shot you got, though! :)

  22. Perfect shots for a perfect night...you did very well with the camera! And you were patient...or did you tell the moon to hurry up?

  24. It was clear here but I evidently have a crumby camera. There were plenty of nice pics on the internet and yours is nice. 33 years until the next one.....I'll be 100 when that happens so I might not see it but then again I might! LOL!
