My parents had a garage sale..and I bought this wheel. It rested for several weeks near my garage waiting for a really good spot in the yard.
Finally the perfect spot was found. 
Not much grass grows way out there anyway..it won’t have to be trimmed around very often.
It might have been from a rake.
I admired this one at a friends.
I don’t know what kind of machine would have this wheel..but I like it.
I have old wheels here and there in the yard..I like the looks of them..old, worn and resting. A little rusty but who cares..a little rust just gives them character. Wheels are wonderful pieces of art!
I suppose someone will line them all up someday at a garage sale or an estate auction..I wonder how long the line of old wheels will be? :)

ReplyDeleteI kept trying to get some wheels from down on the farm but my brother in law kept veto power going. How many sets of wheels can he own. You have some neat ones. The one wheel looks like a cultivator wheel so it could dig up soil while they were weeding corn.

ReplyDeleteI have never seen a wheel like the first one. Quite interesting. It would have to be from a heavy piece of equipment. I'm thinking old grader?
ReplyDeleteMakes one wonder, what type of crops were planted and harvested using that old wheel. Were the crops for the family food source or to keep the stock alive. All part of our history. Who drove the tractor that at one time had the wheel attached. How much sacrifice it was for the family to purchase the equipment. If only that wheel could talk.

ReplyDeleteOld wheels make great yard decorations. We had large wooden wheels by several trees on our farm. I always wonder about the stories these artifacts could tell.

ReplyDeleteYes, there's something about old metal wheels. They have a nostalgic charm all their own. Big old rubber wheels--not the same at all--LOL! I think that's a good spot for it. :)

My husband dug some out of his old log cabin a couple of weeks ago. He had been collecting his antique treasures in it since he was a kid.
