Hairs

I used to wear my hair up all the time.  Then last fall I got it cut rather short and it is just now growing out long enough to get in a pony tail.  I gathered it all up in a chignon the other day.

What did I notice?  A hair on my neck.  More specifically one hair on my neck that made a nice curl.  A L.O.N.G. curl.  I was horrified.  How long have I had this long hair on my neck?  Who noticed it?  Why didn’t they say something..like excuse me but do you curl that long hair on your neck every day or is that just a natural curl? OR  Far Side lets measure that hair on your neck and see how long it is now..it sure has grown since the last time I noticed it.  No one said anything. Nothing.

I swear that hair was four inches long.  So this is just a friendly reminder to all you old ladies out there..walk run to the nearest mirror and check out your neck. I plucked mine..and whilst I was at it I inspected my entire neck for others that might be popping up ready to embarrass me.

For a number of years I have known about the one rotten little hair on my chin that grows fast..I call it my whisker..because it is stiff and wire like.  I tweeze that one on a regular basis..sometimes I yank it out between my fingernails.

Now I have a another problem to add to the mess.  I have an ingrown hair inside my nose.  My nose feels like it is twice the normal size and it hurts and throbs along with my pulse.  I asked Far Guy to tweeze the offending hair in my nose last night..I put hot water packs on it ( A hot wash cloth covered my finger that I put up my nose)  He said “Do you know you have thousands of nose hairs?”   “Yes, I know just tweeze some of them in the area I point to”   ..so he held a flashlight up to my nose and tweezed away.

Getting older is not for sissies:)

  1. Yes, I have those hairs, too. It amazes me how long they can get before I notice them. I've never managed four inches, though. Impressive! I haven't ever had an ingrown hair in my nose, now watch it happen... :-)

  3. I too have a "beard and mustache" that I must attend to on a regular basis. Don't have the neck hair because I wear my hair short and need to have it trimmed all the time (which is when they shave my neck). Getting old just isn't any fun but it is an adventure.

  4. OMG! One more thing I need to worry about? You are SO right that aging is not for sissies!!! And I live alone so who's going to tell me? I'll just go out in public and people will point and I won't have a clue! Maybe ignorance IS bliss? LOL!
I must admit I have wondered why I am losing hair in places I'd rather not and growing it in places I never dreamed! What's up with that? Some cruel joke by the universe? I'm thinking it's not too funny as I have enough to worry about and with aging eyesight to boot it's a losing cause!

  5. Yep, sister...your certainly not alone here! I'm not a 'hairy' person at all but I've become quite handy with a pair of tweezers.

I've already had that conversation with my hair dresser. I told her if she saw anything growin' out of place to let me know ASAP and we'd deal with it baby!

I'll let her cut mine as short as she wants...as long as it passes 'the ponytail test'! :o)

Girlfriend, my eyes watered when readin' 'bout pullin' your nose hairs. I'd scream for drugs! Heeehehehe!

God bless and have a great day sweetie! :o)

  6. Achh.... I'm running! I've never checked for 'neck hairs' - oh, horrors! LOL
I do have that one, pesky whisker - it likes to hold on and is harder than heck to pull out!
I used to work with a lady that had all kinds of chin hairs. She never plucked them. I never understood why - never thought to ask, either. Do you suppose she didn't see them?!!
You are so right - aging is awful!

  7. I'm laughing, because that must have hurt like crazy....ouch. The nose hairs that is...could you get one of those nose pruner thingy's? That might be a little easier.

A neck hair...sigh. At least you can see back there, I have progressive lens and can't see a thing.

  9. I've been plucking chin hairs for years: first, my mother's and now my own. Dang, those white, wiry things are hard to see, but easy to feel!

  11. Our bodies get revenge on us for the way we neglect them when we are kids. And in the weirdest ways.

  12. When I was a little girl, I'd sit on my grandma's lap and pluck her chin hairs for her - it was a favorite pastime. That's what you need - some grandkids to sit behind you and look for random hairs on your neck. (and now I need to remind my husband to pluck his nose hairs - lol)

  15. Ha, this made me giggle. I haven't looked at my neck lately but catch me in a certain light and I think I have a fine moustache! I'm sure I never used to.

  16. I finally figured out where the tweezers went to, and had a good tweezing session yesterday. I've been counting on family members to point out wayward hairs, but no one says a thing, and then I had a good look, and good grief, just about died of embarrassment. That nosehair thing sounds too painful!

  17. Wow thats being secure in your relationship. I dont think Id let anybody near my nose hairs! And yea the neck and chin hairs that start at 40"s. They migrate off my head and like all the rest of me, gravity drags them lower than where they should be! Getting older sucks. Thanks for the laugh!

  18. Oh my Connie, you sure made me laugh at that one! I don't think I would want my hubby to be looking up my nose!

  19. HAIR! now back to Far Guys grand parents: I think the hair gene comes from the mother's side of the family. Or that is what I heard.

  20. I sure am glad to hear that other ladies have neck hairs! A couple years ago I was looking in a hand mirror and was horrified to see about 4 very long hairs on my neck, in the front. I had no idea they were there. You can either pluck them or shave them. Shaving of course makes them feel bristly but it really doesn'tmake them grow faster as some think. You just become more aware of them.I sure am glad to hear that other ladies have neck hairs! 21. Oh, you are too funny. Those neck and chin hairs....... I can't believe you had Far Guy pluck hair out of your nose. That would have made a wonderful "Norman Rockwell"

  23. My father is going through chemotherapy and has lost his hair. That's expected. What wasn't expected was to find a loan hair on his arm that was now over 3 inches long. I told him to just let it grow and in time we could wind it up his arm and on to the top of his head. He'll have his own horrible Trump Do.

As far as nose hair...never pull it. A Q-tip with hydrogen peroxide dries out the infection followed by several days of keeping the are moist with a dab of vaseline.

  24. Oh my. This is really serious.... :) Actually given the status of the top of my head I'd personally be grateful for any additional hairs.
