Blue

There are Bluebirds flying around here and there.  I hope we have two sets..it is hard to tell.

Bluebird May 19

I believe they are feeding young.

The little wild violets are blooming too.

I still have my cold, it is getting old.  Coughing at night until I get enough Nyquil in me that I can sleep through the coughing. ( The Nyquil induced dreams are amazingly colorful)  They say it is just a virus and it takes three weeks to get over..I have only had it for 13 days.

Chance was to the Vet for his annual shots and he is not feeling at all well.  His Blood Panel for Tick diseases came back negative..Yahoo! He has a hot spot over one of his hips..he is taking Rimadyl for a few days.  Last night we had thunder and lightening..he hates stormy weather and will try to refuse going outdoors alone.  He MUST have company.

Four days..that is all Far Guy got pain relief for.  His TN pain came back on Friday morning..he woke up with it.  We are both bummed out..he can have another injection in five weeks.

I will get better. Chance will too. Far Guy will just endure:(

  4. I hope that cold is a bad memory pretty soon. 13 days is a LONG time to be sick. I am sorry to hear that Far Guy's TN pain came back so soon. I am bummed too. To have to wait for a month to get a few days relief... it's terrible. Hang in there.

  6. I'm very sorry the relief did not last for Far Guy. I continue to pray.
Hope you and Chance feel better soon, too.
I loved seeing the blue bird and violets in your post.
For the first time, we had blue birds in our box this year and the 3 little babies survived and did well!

  7. Awww, I am so sorry that the pain has returned. That is a major bummer. It probably feels even worse because of a few days without the pain.
I'm glad Chance's panel came back negative. We watched a dog go downhill and suffer, and only later discovered that she probably was in the advanced stages of Babesiosis.
If your virus does last 3 weeks, at least you are on the downhill side. I hope it goes away sooner.

  8. Oh damn,on Far Guy's pain only going away for four days:( I hope the next shot in five weeks is much longer lasting.
As for your cold, well you know you'll get over it eventually, but I know, it just seems weird and 'wrong' having one this time of year.
Since I don't know what shots Chance is getting yearly, I'm adding this link http://www.2ndchance.info/dogvacs.htm. Oh, that's funny, I just realized that it has 'chance' in the address:) Coincidence or what!
You could also google 'Jean Dodds vaccine protocol'. Too much over vaccination of pets.

    1. We follow that except we add Lyme because the ticks carry it in this area.:)

  10. Sorry to hear that Far Guy didn't get any longer than 4 days of relief. Hope he has better luck next time.

  11. Oh, that's awful and I bet it wasn't a cheap shot either (no pun intended). My shots for RA I'm supposed to take twice a week but I've got it down to once a week so I can save money...they're $250.00 per injection that I give myself. Oh yeah....the golden years....all that saving so I could spend it on meds. I never got a gold watch or a trip either...no cruises for me! LOL! Around the block maybe! But I'm not suffering like Far Guy. I hate to see any living thing suffer and it must be so hard for you to watch. My prayers go out to both of you and Chance too. Aging is not for the faint of heart.

  14. So sorry the nerve block didn't last as long as you'd hoped. Colds aren't fun at the best of times and spring ones (imho) are the worst. BE WELL!

  15. You have some good and some bad. The cold will go but it's nasty when you have it. I hope Far Guy can somehow get relief.
Good about the Blue Birds .

  16. Sorry to hear about all the pain and sickness at your house. I hope the sights and sounds of spring will offer some distraction and maybe a bit of relief. Take care!

There is something nasty going round here, like a flu, in MAY!

Poor Chance, he is having more then his fair share of problems also. Are you saying that you need another dog?

  19. I'm so sorry to hear that the block only worked for 4 days. I remember the days when the only way I could get away from head pain was to be sleeping. I know how hard it is to watch your loved one in pain. I will pray that the next few weeks past fast. Hope you shake your bug also. Ann

  23. What a bummer that Far Guy only got four days. Will it build on itself, this block thing, will he get more time with each shot?

Summer colds are stupid. That's all, just stupid. They seem so very worthless and double annoying. So I am very sorry you have one and that it is determined to linger.

  24. Bummer for Far Guy - - - I am trying to play catch-up on commenting. When I read the blog about his pain-RELIEF, I was so happy for him and you, too cuz when one spouse suffers, both do - - - an empathy thing as well as how it affects lifestyle. The hot spots on the dog - - remember them well. We did all kinds of funny bandages on one dog to keep him from chewing - - and the storms - - - remember those well with old dogs, too. Nothing but nothing would calm one of them. We should have given him Valium or something similar. So very sorry about your cold. It sounds like the medical community has benefited financially from your family this month.
