Book Club 2026: May

The read for May was There's Something about Mira by Sonali Dev

I give it a 4 on my scale of 1 to 10.  The plot was easy to figure out...I wrote the ending in my head half way through the book.  Not impressed.  Most everyone at bookclub was not impressed.

Thursday is Infusion Day so I ran errands to Wally World, Aldi, another grocery store, the Meat Market and the bank all within an hour.   Yeah me!

Late in the afternoon we went to the visitation for a 94 year old neighbor who died.  Maurice was a very kind man, we served on the Fire Department with him and when we were building our home he did all the cement work for us.  He was a perfectionist when it came to cement!  94 years is an accomplishment!

Minnesota weather: High 55F or 13C  Low was 33F or 1C.   The wind was chilly.

What's cooking?  Ham, turkey and cheese on a pretzel bun with peaches and raspberries:)

  1. I’m loving my Aldi’s just like you advised me. It’s the fruits and vegetables and basics I like there. Also milk costs less. Plus it closer to me and not as busy as Walmart. You don’t have walk two miles to get what you need. I’ll probably like having that Dollar General close to me when it’s finished. There’s good and bad in most things.

    Wishing you a warm weekend.

  2. My favorite books are those where I think I know where it's going, and suddenly there is a twist and the end is a total surprise. I won't pick up There's Something about Mira. I just agreed to join another book club. Their book is waiting for me at the library. I'll have to see how the one reads!

  5. Good to get your book review on this one. Just had a friend mention they had just started reading it. She wasn't very impressed either. I do miss my book club gals, but nearly all have moved away.

  6. Too predictable books are yawners to read. Hope the next book your group reads rates better.

  9. I read only non-fiction, so this wouldn't be a book I would read.
We don't have Aldi's here in Montreal, but we have a large fruit store called Sami and there fruits and vegetables are very good and decently priced.
We also had chilly weather here in Montreal yesterday and today, 50s Fahrenheit!

  10. How on earth did you get in and out of all of those stores in an hour? You must have been running. :)
My sympathies to you on the passing of your friend.

  11. Just call you Speedy Gonzales! Remember him? I'm sorry I haven't been around this week. There was no internet OR phone at the campground so I'm trying to catch up on the most recent posts today and then will read backwards. :-)
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  12. I ordered 3 books to read while serving as a poll worker. There was only one issue and not many primary races. I never got to read a page.

  13. Running through stores is not for me! I like to take my time. That's exactly why my husband won't go with me! Ha Ha
Sorry about your friend also. Alot of old friends are getting things that can't be fixed and it's heartbreaking!
