Monday stuff

I finished a baby blanket over the weekend.  Another blue one.  I have no babies in mind for any of the blankets I have been doing.  Just getting ready...to BE prepared!   I have enough of this yarn left to make another baby blanket....in fact I already started it.

We had no plans/appointments on Monday ...so what do we do?  Made two appointments!  The first was for Far Guy's Indefinite Updated Military ID...it seems the Government changed a few things so off we went.  Interesting fact is that they couldn't get fingerprints from him as his ridges are all worn off.   The next appointment was at the Eye Clinic...Jen had recommended her Eye Dr and she had an afternoon opening... Far Guy needs Cataract Surgery on both eyes.  Far Guy said "I am blind as a bat"  He has a referral and will be seen for the initial cataract consult next week.  The Surgery will be scheduled.

Now for the rest of the week...only three appointments.  Practically a week off.

Minnesota weather: Mostly cloudy  High 6F or -14C  Low was -16F or  -27C eh!

Supper: Steak sandwiches, twice baked potato and green beans.  It is just the menfolk and me this week as Jen is off to Puerto Rico for some time in the sun.

  2. I have a stack of baby blankets too. But there will be babies to wrap around one day. I’ve used that yarn.

At 62 my ridges were gone. When I signed up for teacher retirement they tried 3 times. Finally they just accepted me! 😇😇

Glad you have an appointment break.

  3. Wow - FG could be a cat burglar as a retirement career and not have to wear gloves. I had never heard of wearing off the ridges on fingerprints. He'll be amazed at how easy cataract surgery is, and how much difference it makes.

  4. Would it be all the woodworking that took the ridges? Interesting indeed.
The baby blanket is lovely. I made several when I first retired and if it weren't for my daughter's friends continuing to have babies, I'd still have a bin full.
Good luck to Far Guy with the cataract surgery. And I hope the rest of the appointments go well.

  5. The baby blanket looks so soft and cozy.
I have no fingerprints left either. I had that problem over 20 years ago when I needed to be fingerprinted for work at school. I said yes, we women work our fingers to the bone. :-)

  6. Your supper tonight sounds delicious. I'm glad that Far Guy will be able to see again. I am working on replenishing the baby blanket tote. When it's full I take them to the Open Door Mission.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. That is a beautiful blanket! I have a few daughters who crochet, but I never learned to do anything but a chain! My mother could crochet an afghan like nothing, and she knit so many pairs of those idiot-string mittens for my kids when they were little, double thickness, they were so warm! Jen went off for some time in the what? Sun? I remember that, vaguely...the sun. That's so nice though. :).

  9. Oh boy, I hope the new fingerprints doesn't mess up the new ID! I love your baby blankets - it gives the world hope.
We are in the appointment game, too. I have a cardiologist, the eye doctor because "I am as blind as a bat" too, and then the pulmonologist. And we will see what those appointments bloom in to.

  10. Your baby blankets sound so cozy! It’s lovely that you’re making them just to be prepared—they’ll be treasured when the time comes. Far Guy’s appointments sound like a full day, but it’s good he’s getting his eyes checked and cataract surgery scheduled. Stay warm with that Minnesota weather.

  11. Good that Far guy is going to get the cataracts looked after. Practice how to give eye drops. The whole process takes close to 500 drops.

  12. I am thankful I got my cataracts done, the surgery only takes about 10 minutes and recovery is only a couple of days. One eye at a time though!
Far guy will be able to see much better when he is driving Tilly around this summer!
