I started this book back in the Spring...April I think. Jen gave me the book and said "It is best read in snippets here and there." So that was my approach.
The Life Impossible by Matt Haig.
I give the book a 7 out of 10 on my reading scale. It was a very different read for me, however the last 20 pages were page turners.
The book is full of different thoughts on life. My favorite being...
"Reading helps you live lives beyond the one you are inside. It turns our single-room mental shack into a mansion."
Now onto the next book...perhaps another in between book before I start the next book club read. I got a Thrift Books order last week:)
We are in a blizzard warning. Lots of time for puzzles and reading.
Far Side
No blizzard for us, but we're getting those 60+ mph winds again. I woke up about 4:30 to all that howling wind, and couldn't get back to sleep. I totally agree with the thoughts about reading. It expands our world in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteYikes a blizzard warning! We are having light rain and will have snow/rain or rain - snow and then high winds, snow squalls, and a flash freeze! Well, weather this time of year is unpredictable!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and enjoy reading and puzzling.
The book sounds interesting. I have been having such a hard time trying to read this past week. It's just not been in my interests, but hopefully soon once I feel better. Our weather is the 50's and rain this week, which is very odd for winter here.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for a Thriftbooks order, my daughter had short stories by Ernest Hemingway on her Christmas list. We are having a December thaw right now, there is still a lot of snow, but it is melting. It feels like spring out there though, a balmy 40 degrees, going up to 50 today! Enjoy your blizzard, oh dear, it is a cozy time but ugh.
ReplyDeleteBooks have been my life since I can remember as a young boy. My single-room mental shack has been turned into worlds of mansions!
ReplyDeleteDarn, I was hoping the storm would peter out before it reached you. There is now 50 cms/20 inches of snow on the ground. I am tired of winter!w
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds interesting.
Reading for pleasure is a special gift. We’re lucky we own it. The number who read for entertainment is falling fast too.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a good book and a blizzard.
ReplyDeleteI'm readying cookbooks right now. Not because I am a cook, but because the stories which accompany the recipes are so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI liked Life Impossible better than the other Matt Haag book I read (Midnight Library). So many books to read, so little time. Enjoy cozy indoor days!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book names. I read The Midnight Library years ago. I want to read it again. I have a huge list of books to order from Thrift books. Trying to wait another month or two. There is a lot going on right now. Two family Christmas get-togethers this year. One is at my house but my daughter is in charge of it.
ReplyDeleteYup! Blizzard, schools closed, my dentist cancelled on me--good day to cuddle up under a blanket and watch a movie.
ReplyDeleteThe last twenty pages makes it a good book. But, not enjoying the rest of the book definitely makes it mid in my "book". Pun intended.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely the time of year for reading. I ordered a book for my DH and I'm trying to get it read before he gets it on Christmas. It's a nonfiction book on 2 old ranchers in northern BC who lived like paupers but actually were millionaires. He'll enjoy reading that one.
ReplyDeleteOur bad weather is tomorrow but, alas, my husband has a doctors appointment so out in the misery we go. Stay warm and enjoy your next read.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books. No blizzard warning for us. Hope you all stay safe and warm. Love you guys.
ReplyDeleteWould it be a book you keep and reread or one that you might toss or donate? I love books. Looking to make a book nook in the bedroom for winter this year.
ReplyDeleteI gave it back to my daughter! No I would not read it again.
DeleteAt least you stuck with it, I guess that is something
