Yesterday we had what they call a Ground Blizzard. The winds kick up what snow it can and blow it around. On our way to my appointment we saw many snow-nados/ snow-devils ...that is snow picked up into a swirling cone the air. The high yesterday was 13 F or -10 C the low was -2 F or -18 C the windchill was brutal. The weather is headed for the negative numbers for a few days and then it will warm up again...maybe above freezing and rain...I could do without rain and ice everywhere. Stay cold enough to snow...please.
Some spots in the road were icy and in some places it was hard to see.
The epidural steroid injections into my back were not real painful, I expected that they would be more painful. The Doctor said it will take several days to know if they worked or not. So far the pain remains...I have a full feeling in my back and a headache...and I am not normally a headachy type person. Time will tell. It was worth a try.
I had another biopsy on my face last week, they were atypical cells but the margins were clear...so praise God no more surgery on my face!
Christmas Card Report I was able to take 12 cards from the drying area so my total is 35. Slow but sure.
Far Side
Wow on those temperatures. We had a winter storm last night with high winds, that took out power to some area towns of ours. Thankfully, we are okay, but boy 7 degrees feels frigid in our parts. Good to hear good news on health updates.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it wasn't all that painful, but I sure hope they end up helping. That weather does sound brutal!
ReplyDeleteWhile the snow is beautiful, I know it can be such a hazard when having to drive in it, or even get outside. I totally understand all of your preparations you were doing for Winter. Wow...that is really cold. Hopefully your headache will go away today and you will begin to feel better...Hoping the shots work for you and you get some much needed relief. Great news from the biopsy on your face. Keep up the good work...you will get those cards done, I am sure. Happy Thursday..
ReplyDeleteLD...It was a horrible day of strong winds yesterday. A loose trailer was being blown across the parking lot at Fleet and Farm while I was there. I had to be out in it and was chilled the rest of the day. My wife is also dealing with pain, unknown cause at this point. I hope your get some relief soon.
ReplyDeleteWe had strong winds, and there was a lot of drifting and blowing across the highway as I drove back home.
ReplyDeleteGlad the injections weren't too painful. Fingers crossed they provide some relief from your pain.
You're making good progress on the cards. Enjoy!
We got the winds yesterday afternoon and most of the night...along with snow squalls and white outs.
ReplyDeleteI think it is about 9 F out this morning.
I'll put my coveralls on and go get some fresh air.
I sure hope those shots help!
We also had that wind but no snow. I don't like the winter warm-ups, it just causes trouble.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you speak of and have driven through many a ground blizzard. They never bothered me unless the snow started sticking to the roads and made things slippery. That's another story entirely!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a ground blizzard going on right now. We got more snow over night and now half the roads around us are close (or close to it) due to blowing snow. Good thing I don't have to go anywhere!
ReplyDeleteWe had snow squall warnings. Saw the snow-nados here, too. I really hope it doesn't get warm enough to melt the snow away this weekend, though.
ReplyDeleteI hope the shot works over the next day or so. Fingers crossed! :)
Our winds were awful yesterday too. I went to the doctor too and just about froze, just from the wind. I hope your shots help a lot and that the headache goes away quickly.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
I would have been so afraid to drive on that road. I bet the shot will give you some back pain relief! 🤞
ReplyDeleteWe got snow overnight but it's heavy wet muck. Michael couldn't use the blower so he had to push it all. The plow had come down the road so he had to get the snowbank out of the way before we have our weekend deep freeze. My daughter gets steroid shots in her back and neck. They work great, until they don't. Her pain specialist is not wanting to continue with them.
ReplyDeleteI remember ground drifting when I was a kid in Saskatchewan. the snow continued on with no stopping unless it hit the willows or a farm yard.
ReplyDeleteWow, those snow-devils sound wild! ❄️ Stay safe in that crazy cold weather! I’m glad the injections weren’t as painful as expected, and fingers crossed they start working soon. Also, great news about your biopsy—praise indeed! Keep those Christmas cards coming!

ReplyDeleteYour winter weather is brutal.
ReplyDeleteI had a spine injection once that did not work, nor did the second one. I hope you have more success.
Oh yes, I remember those snow-devils. Also how dreadfully cold prairie winters were ( and still are except I'm long gone).
ReplyDeleteThankfully the injections were not as painful as you thought and thankful that you won't need more surgery on your face. GM
Glad the injection is behind me. I hope it will help. And the biopsy, that's good news, right? Through your blog, I'm learning new things because what you told me about snow, I didn't know.
ReplyDeleteI mean: behind you.
ReplyDeleteOMG that sure is cold...........good luck with your health issues.........
ReplyDeletePraying that the epidural shots give you relief from the pain.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your face surgeries are over! Let's keep it that way!!
ReplyDeleteThat definitely looks COLD! I think I will stay down here where I don't have to shovel and I can do my walks without freezing! Brrr! I used to walk up North even below zero and I would ride my horse too but now I'm a wimp! I can't take extremes of either hot or cold.
