Done

I finished the remainder of the watercolor Christmas cards on Saturday.  Far Guy signed and folded the letters and tucked them inside.  I attached the address labels and wrote a few notes inside some of them and sealed them.  I have all the stamps but I am waiting for the return address labels that should have been in the mail last Friday.

Cards in progress

Using the homemade cotton watercolor paper was a challenge as it sucked up water to beat the band and extra drying time had to be allowed.   No two cards are exactly alike...

The final count was 126.  I am not sure I will do the homemade watercolor cotton paper again...but it did make a very pretty card.

Pain Report: Some improvement...is it enough?  Is that it?  I knew I wouldn't get complete relief, perhaps I was expecting too much.   Before the steroid injections my pain was at a six...now it is a five at times.  I am still doing the exercises and the pain at night that came on right after the injections is now gone...so at least I can rest comfortably again.

  1. Can you do a post and share the front of your card?

  5. Yikes on the pain. It can be a life consuming ...blood sucking...life sucking thing. I don't wish that on anyone.
That said, your artwork will be appreciated by anyone who receives the cards. I often use homemade cards from others in my still life photography to enhance to photo.
    I'd consider it priceless art!

  6. Congrats on finishing the cards. I'm hoping mine will go out tomorrow or Wednesday. I keep forgetting to get stamps when I'm out running errands. I'm glad there is a little pain relief, especially at night.

  9. Handmade watercolor paper is usually very porous, but it is also beautiful in its own right. Wow! Can hardly wait to see them.
When you are in chronic pain any improvement is good. Even when you have to think back in comparison to realize it. I can relate. I hope it continues to gradually lessen. :) :)

  13. Finishing a big project is so satisfying.
I'm happy to hear that you are at least not having pain at night. Good sleep can be hard to come by as we age.

  14. Yay! Cards are done for another year. Almost. :-) I finished Piper's sweater about an hour ago, pockets and all. Then I kitchenered the toes of socks I finished during Sunday School yesterday. It's so satisfying to put all the knitting needles, extra yarn and patterns away after a big project or two. Now on to another baby blanket that already has a few rows on it.
I'm sorry that you didn't have more relief from pain. I was looking forward to an appointment at the pain clinic tomorrow for my back But they called and cancelled it until after my MRI on Jan. 3. Slowly but surely I guess. We can commiserate together.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
