Parade

Yesterday was the Homecoming parade in town.  We found a spot to park Tilly on Main Street and waited for the parade.

We waited quite awhile, we talked to my baby brother and his bride...they are sitting on the bench waiting for the parade.

It was a nice day sunny and 80F or 27C.

Homecoming King and Queen.

Great Niece Olivia is in the ripped jeans and Great Niece Anna on the far right.

A hayrack full of football players was the last parade unit.

The parade was short and sweet, lots of kids smiling and waving!

Fun times!

  2. I can think of few things that give me greater pleasure than small town parades in the fall.

  3. I think I missed the Home Coming hoopla here, but probably because I don't know anyone in High School.
Oddly enough, I never went to Home Coming or Prom, not because I wasn't asked, but because I'd gone to a dance in Jr. High and it was an awful experience so I never tried it again.
I bet it was fun seeing the kids enjoy it so much!

Hope you're feeling a bit better every day.

  5. Small town high school Homecoming celebrations - just so much fun!! I always enjoyed the dress up days at school. Even the teachers joined into the fun. And the parade was fun and was a way for the elementary school kids to really get involved too. And the marching band.

  8. These are the good things of life...watching parades, seeing kids smile, and lots of laughter. I do love small town parades and getting to visit with people that I don't see everyday.

  9. Love it! Our small town has a homecoming parade too. All the classes make a float, we put the cheerleaders in the back of pickups and the football players on a flat bed. The homecoming royalty is all in open cars and we line the streets. They are all lead by the high school band (following a police car) and the junior high band brings up the rear.
My granddaughter's school in the big city has no parade. They are missing the fun!

  10. Parades are much more fun when you know people participating in them. Was a good day for it. :)
