One by one

Things are getting crossed off our "to do" list one by one.  Yesterday I had blood drawn at the clinic for my Rheumatologist appointment next week.  I hate the late in the morning almost noon fasting lab appointments...so I took raisin bread toast along!

After having breakfast at noon in the car I visited my Mom.  She is tired and still recovering from her bout with Covid.  I fluffed out her small Christmas tree and put a few ornaments on her tree.

Later in the afternoon I had an appointment with a Nurse Ambassador from Humira.  They wanted to be sure I knew how to inject myself just in case some day I mess up the injection or it is a bad batch then I can get a replacement.  So that was a necessary appointment!  ( each injection is very expensive between $3,000 and $4,000) Good thing we have insurance.  So far I am noticing a small improvement about a week after the injection that wains to nothing before the next injection.  I take the injections every two weeks...I feel very tired and have burning bone pain for about two days following an injection.

 One day at a time.

Swag outside our door, it was a gift from my friend Susie.  She loves making decorations from stuff found in the woods.

  1. OHHHH !! I love that swag! I should learn how to make stuff like that too.
I get the 'bone' pain. Sounds weird but I get that too from the stuff I've taken.

No fun, but if the trade off is good? I don't know.
    The price is ridiculous.
Hopefully your mom feels better and better.

  2. Yikes, that is very expensive medication. I do hope it provides some relief. Wishing your mom a continued recovery.

    The swag is lovely!

  3. Hopefully your Mom will soon have more energy. I still fall asleep in the afternoons if I'm sitting in my chair knitting. I never did that before I had covid. The fatigue is a real thing.
It sounds like things are getting done before the move north. I "think" I'm glad you get the injections with insurance. I'm sure that sometimes you wonder, if it's worth it with the bone pain. I used to feel that way when they were injecting my back and it only lasted about 10 days. Those shots were about the same cost as yours.
I hope today is a very good day for you.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  4. Pretty swag. It's good to read the injections are helping, even though it's not ideal. That is a lot of money.

  5. The door swag is beautiful - simple and perfect. The injection sure sounds like a mixed blessing.

I'm glad to hear your mom is still improving after Covid. Having a small tree decorated in her room probably brings some cheer.

  6. Good to hear that your mom is on the mend. It takes a couple of weeks to get over this version of C. My husband had it .
I think it's sad that injections cost so much and that they cause pain.

  7. Sigh! I hope it kicks in soon and you can feel good all the time. My cornea isn't healing very well either. I go today again to see if they can do something else.

  8. The cost of some medications is exorbitant, making insurance a true blessing. I pray the longer you use the medication, the longer the periods of relief. I put my small tree up yesterday. Other than a small nativity, it’s about the only decoration I put out anymore.

  9. Beautiful decoration by your door.

I have to do an injection once a month (hormonal stuff), and it's not fun. It doesn't really hurt, I don't get a lot of side effects, it's just girding myself up to stick myself with that darn needle!
I have no problem sticking other people (have done cats and helped friends and used to pierce ears) but having to do it to myself! It's giving me anxiety just typing about it!

  10. To bad your mother wasn’t able to get her Covid update.

  11. My mother had RA. I'm grateful there are treatments for it now (when she died, in the 1960's, there weren't any) but it's too bad that you are having these side effects. I'm also happy that your Mom is recovering from Covid.

  12. What a gorgeous swag! I was just thinking I would like a swag for my front door this year. But we don't have the right kinds of shrubbery to trim. Neither do my kids so I can't go clip in their yards either :)

Sorry about the shots and bone pain. I hope the medicine turns out to work well in the end.

  13. Fasting appointments I like first thing in the morning
The swag isn't something I am use to seeing
Injections, don't like them but know they are often needed in treating stuff

  14. Glad your mom is getting better.
I hope these expensive shots will do the trick. Goodness! I would not like having to give them to myself--awk! But we always do what we have to do. I hope they last longer and longer.
That swag is gorgeous! Your friend is very talented.
Have a really good evening, my friend. :)

  15. When I hear about your struggle with RH, I stop complaining about my issues. You are a warrior.

  16. Oh I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this rheumatoid arthritis stuff. It sounds so awful. It sounds like you are doing the best you can do and learning all the ins and outs of it. So sorry that happened to you. I pray the injections will help a lot. Glad you got to see your Mom and set up a tree for her. Take good care.

  17. Beautiful swag from a talented lady! I used to take Enbrel twice a week but I don't remember being tired or bone pain but I was in so much pain from the RA I doubt I would have noticed. It will get better!
