Last of the flowers

There are a few Asters blooming here and there and a couple of Coneflowers.

It rained most of the day yesterday.   The wind blew and leaves rained down along with the rain.  We watched Deer in the yard and a bunch of Common Flickers that must have used our lawn for a rest stop on their migration South.  It looked like they were snacking on ants!!

I did some housework and began painting the Christmas ornaments.

Good bye September.

  1. Wish you could send some of that rain our way. We have had no measurable since July 12

  2. It would make me happy to learn that flickers ate up all the ants. Yes, goodbye September!

  4. The coneflowers are so hardy - they always amaze me when they stick around in the cold!

  7. I'd be happy to see the flickers munching on the ants.
We reached a low of 1C/34F. I still haven't cleared my annual containers, but now I'm wishing I'd done it earlier as it is going to be a chilly job.
    The coneflower is so pretty!

  8. After a lovely week in the low 70's here in Ohio, we are heading into summer weather in the high 80's for the first week of October! Time to gather the cardigans back in the drawer and shave my legs.

  10. My hydrangea flowers are hanging on like your coneflowers, but...their demise will happen soon what with the calendar turning to October. The rain was so much here I thought I would need canoe paddles! Have a wonderful October!!!

  15. Rain all day here today but the sun came out at the end. We bought a beautiful orange and yellow mum and dumped our geranium today. Hope we all have a good October!

  16. It was 95F here today and is supposed to be in the 90's for a couple of more days before getting significantly cooler by the end of the week. I can't believe we have the A/C on in October!
    Blessings,

  17. There are a few last coneflowers blooming here too. I'm hoping for many sunny days in October. Fall seems such a short season :(

  20. We're still warm here...the temps shot up again. You can just see a tint in the trees that they are starting to change and a few leaves floating down occasionally but nothing like what you're experiencing...I wish!

  21. It feels more like August here than October. We were in the high 70s today. The leaves are changing. Soon enough it will be cold!
