I give this months book an 8 out of a 10. It was an okay book. The chapters were short so you could stop and start if interrupted. It was not a page turner.

All the gals gave it pretty much the same review. We heard it was a must read...but it wasn't.
It turned really cold here...lows were in the 40's F some places had the 30's.F...very unusual for July in Minnesota. Must be more of the dreaded Global Warming.

It's disappointing when you anticipate a good "page turner", and it turns out to be just OK. We had lows in the 40 here yesterday morning. And only 70 for a high today expected. Plus it's raining again. Yippee! We sure need it.

ReplyDeleteI just finished "Where the Crawdad's Sing" a loaner from a book loving friend. Of course, it is a 10 star book! The whole reading world has read it, and now I have too. We want to watch the movie together. Have you seen the movie?
I've created my own kinda book club. An exchange of good books with two unrelated friends :)) I just started reading my own book "One Italian Summer" about a daughter who loses her mom and goes on a solo vacation she had planned for them. So far so good.
I think I’ll skip that book. I read The Personal Librarian. I made it through the book. Guess I’d give it an 8 out of 10.

ReplyDeleteI never heard of that book, but your comments don't sound too exciting, so I don't think I'll be reading it. I have been reading the Miss Read books and getting a kick out of them. Also reading the Tommy and Tuppence books by Agatha Christie....and the Cork O'Connor books by William Kent Krueger which are really page turners, if you want something exciting! Start with "Iron Lake" if you read the Cork books.
ReplyDeleteRecently I seem to find every book that was highly recommended boring. Or plain old stupid. It's enough to turn me off all fiction. At least for a while. GM
ReplyDeleteI am reading my way through the stack of books I have accumulated on my table. Most are as you describe this one. Not page turners, can put down. I have donated the last four to a little library once I finished them. No need for a reread at another time. None are keepers.
ReplyDeleteI would love it to be that cool tempwise. It's not bad lately...80's but now we have the humidity...yuch! Try a Sandra Dallas book...I think you'll like her!
