My Mother was very active in the American Legion and was President of the American Legion Auxiliary for two terms. She was a flag bearer in parades on Memorial Day and the 4th of July. She was also very active in fund raising dinners....as in chairing as many as her schedule would allow.
Mom is feeling a bit stronger from her time in the Nursing Home, next week she may try to go back to her apartment. One day at a time.

ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July! My MIL was also very active with the Legion Auxiliary. Because they lived through WWII and Korea, I believe those organizations were really important to that generation.
ReplyDeleteMy maiden name is part of the post name of our local American Legion. My dad was an honor guard and flag bearer in all local parades. It meant a lot to him to represent. What a wonderful photo of your mom!

Aww I love that pic of your mom marching in the parade with the flag. That's awesome. My dad was Commander of the Legion post in his Minnesota town for many years. I also have pics of him marching in parades and speaking at events. Such good news to hear that your mom might be able to go back to her apartment. Praying for that!
