Sad Eyes

Someone loves to steal my slippers, she is a thief with sad eyes...because she knows they are not hers.   She just likes to retrieve them.

She gives herself away every time she steals them...she wags her tail...whop whop whop on anything she passes and she sounds off with a low throaty growl...a sure sign that she has something...this week it was a ball of painters tape from the project Andy was working on, Jen's mittens, another cardboard box...and the most exciting of all she retrieved a pair of scissors and took them to Far Guy.

After all in dog years she is probably a teenager...persistent and demanding sometimes.

She and I have an ongoing fight about the patio door...if I am in the kitchen she will put her paw on the patio door to let me know that she would like to go out...I ask her to sit...if she does I let her out the door and if she refuses I don't let her out...she has a perfectly good doggie door elsewhere that she can use.  Sometimes if looks could kill...I would be dead...cause she can give me "the look."

  1. How can you be angry at that face??? Those eyes!

    Dog expressions are amazing.
I had a retriever mix that loved taking my running shoes and putting them in her bed. She would take her leash off the doorknob and bring it to me when she wanted to go for a walk or run with me.

  2. That Sadie dog is so beautiful and funny!!! She knows if she gets stuff, then she will get attention, too. Someone had posted a video on FB that showed a dog who wanted to help all the time. It took laundry out of the dryer, put the TV remote back where it belongs, etc. However I don't know if it really did it on its own or it was "tricks" they had taught. The person who posted acted like the dog was self-motivate to help - - even handing clean dishes from the dishwasher to the owner to put away. I LOVE dogs but don't want their mouth on my clean dishes!

  3. Those are definitely sad and guilty eyes. LOL Anyone who doesn't believe that dogs have expressive faces, has never been around one. She's sure a beautiful dog.

  4. At least she only retrieves the stuff. Our current Westie - now almost six years old - took forever to learn not to chew the stuff she grabbed, and slippers are still her weakness, even though she's stopped chewing everything else besides her toys (even the toughest of which don't last long with her).

  5. It's amazing how expressive animals can be!

Burton likes to bring me toys to throw so we can play fetch. If I'm busy working, I always know what he wants because he meows the whole way down the hall to my office, with the ball in his mouth

  7. I am reminded of a part golden retriever dog we had as kids. When coming home from a vacation, that dog couldn't help itself and had to put something in its mouth and wag his tail until we piled out of the car. Sometimes that oral fixation would be a huge branch that weight more than him and other times it was some twig off the ground that we couldn't really see in his mouth because it was so small.

  10. She acts like my 3 year old when he has something he shouldn't. He will say, don't look at the (whatever he shouldn't have) Mimi!!!

  12. Could she look any sadder? Of course, you know very well she's not really sorry for whatever she's stolen. She just can't resist.

  13. We have a dog teenager too! Ours likes to sneak into other rooms to find things (and she is very sneaky) :)

  15. Probably a teenager, still testing, I remember that look, which was ugly enough that we called it the barffy look. That was my daughter, of course.

  16. Sadie is just so precious. Our Zoey "retrieves" Dennis's slippers. She used to chew them as a puppy but hasn't done that in ages. She just grabs them and lays her head on them when he's gone. I think she just wants them because they're his. She is definitely his dog. She loves me, but he's all she needs. :-) And she was supposed to be mine!
You are going to miss her so much when you go home and she'll miss you just as much. She has your number. Ha!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  17. Sadie is quite the dog. I guess dogs like the path of least resistance and get some one to open the door is more fun. We watch our two neighbor dogs get let out and then they keep checking at the door hoping the people didn't leave. We get to watch a bigger dog with a French bulldog buddy who love to chase each other.
