Hey Mikey the Hockey Player

Hey Mikey plays ice hockey.  They have games on Saturday mornings and I managed to get to a game yesterday with my camera.

Hey Mikey in green.

Listening to the coach...I admire these guys...it must be like herding cats.

There was some falling down and getting right back up.

They rotate through being the Goalie...hard to see the puck coming when you are messing with the net!

He is learning.  This is his second season playing ice hockey.   The games are 45 minutes which is 15 minutes too long...the kids get cold feet and hands and lose any concentration that they may have had.

  2. Ice Hockey is a huge High School sport in our area and our girls' team took state more than once quite a few years ago.

I can appreciate anyone who does hockey! Skating was never my strong suit!

Kid hockey is so much fun to watch!

  4. How cute is this! Kudos to you for getting out and about with your camera! It's cold but Sunny here so I can imagine what it is there especially for the little ones. Happy Sunday!💖

  5. My grandson plays ice hockey and loves it. He's 15 now so the players are less like cats being herded at his age. Hehe.

  6. Gosh, he's growing up so quickly. And he does look adorable in that getup. :-)

  7. I’d think ice hockey was a difficult sport. Just skating is hard.

  8. I bet this can't be more fun to watch! My six year old granddaughter is playing some form of basketball and it is hilarious. Those coaches are saints. I don't know how they do it. I would be laying on the court laughing (or crying). I bet Hey Mikey loves it!

  10. Herding cats is about right, but then cats and little kids are so darn cute.
Both my husband and my daughter coached the little ones in soccer. Watching the ball was not always a priority. :-)

  11. Glad you got to see Mikey play an ice hockey game. I'm sure he will get better. Good for you for going and watching and cheering, and maybe getting cold feet or hands? Was the hot chocolate good?

  14. What fun! I'm sure he was tickled that you came to the game AND took lots of pictures of him. As a Minnesota kid, I grew up around hockey. One of my nieces had a couple of boys who played here in town when they were in elementary school. Those were the last hockey games I've seen, and those boys have just graduated from high school.

  18. My grandson played soccer. He really had never seen a soccer match so it took a whole season to develop skills and understanding. The second season was a better one for him. Mike does well with it being that he has to wear skates and also play.
