The past week

I enjoyed the last pontoon ride of the year with my baby brother, his bride and Baxter one afternoon last week.  The Fall color on the lake is very pretty.

It is always fun to see our old resort from the lake.  All the cabins have been removed only the boat house remains next to the lake.  The fellow who lives there has a home further away from the lake.

Yesterday I had lunch with my best friend Susie.   We met at a local in the boonies eating establishment that is about half way in between our homes.  We had a great visit!  She sent home Walleye for us...she and her husband are fishermen.  We had some for supper and it was really really good.

Our weather has turned cold...we had a hard frost early Friday morning.  29 F or -1 C  eh!  If we had pumpkins there would be frost on them.

Baxter says Hi!  He loves a pontoon ride.

Here he is outstanding on his dock.

Oh and how about Apple Pie?   It was great one afternoon...neighbors Steve and Jo shared their apple pie with us...apples from our old resort!

I had a really bad tooth ache...an abscess.  Luckily our Dentist believes me and ordered antibiotics right away on Monday morning.  Then in a procedure on Thursday he opened up the tooth and put some medication down inside and sealed it up...if this doesn't work I have to go see the Oral Surgeon.  ( At least they have laughing gas!)

  1. Geeze ... one thing after another! I hope the abscess clears up and you don't need to have the darned thing pulled. Eww.

On the rest of it? You are busy enjoying the weather! We had a hard frost this morning which I was ready for. It is time.

    Have a great day.

  2. Ohh, sorry to hear of that tooth. Good luck and hope you are not continuing to be in pain. We are having some nice calm and perfect weather right now.

  3. Yuck, the tooth issue sounds painful. I hope the infection clears up and you can avoid the oral surgeon.

The ride on the pontoon boat sounds like fun, as does getting together with a long-time friend.

  4. Everything was happy and then the tooth. I hope it resolves itself.

Walleye is my favorite fish, but expensive! Lucky you, having people who fish in your life. The lake scene is lovely.

  5. Walleye (we call it pickerel here in Canada - or at least some do - some still call it walleye) is my absolute favourite fish to eat! Dad loves to fish so I grew up eating trout, bass, perch and pickerel. Next time I stay with him, I should see if he has any in the freezer from this summer's excursions.

  6. Walleye and apple pie seems quite nice though the tooth problem doesn't.

  8. Your old resort is beautiful...I'd live above the boat house...how cozy that would be. The cold is coming fast in your area. I love the cold but I am really trying to get lots of work done before that happens down here.
Baxter is so handsome! So sorry about your toothache,,,that is awful pain and I h ope you don't have to have surgery on it. I just hope it heals and doesn't cause you any more pain. How's the Lyme disease doing?
Better I hope. Take care. BTW, I'm removing all the old doorknobs and replacing them....had to add that to the list!

  10. The setting for your former resort is beautiful. Thanks for showing us.
Good luck with your tooth. You have too much to deal with already.

  11. Apple pie sounds like a good idea. Once we're done with pumpkin I'll have to make one. There would surely be a mutiny if we didn't have pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.
Sorry about your tooth. I hope whatever the dentist did works.

  12. I have worked in dentistry for more than 30 years, and I know all too well how those toothaches can go - I hope it's feeling better with the medicated filling and medication.

And I love the photos, truly the best of the season!!

  14. It was cold here in Wisconsin.. I can only imagine what the temps are like where you live. Everyone loves apple pie...even if it is not their favorite. Especially warm with a scoop of Icecream.... Unless you have a bum tooth.

  15. It has turned pretty brisk here in eastern Ontario too. Do you find the foliage colors a bit more brilliant this year? That seems to be the consensus in my area this season. I'm loving the new camera by the way. It was a gift from my sister who bought it for her trip to Alaska, but she found it to complicated.

  16. Mmmm, fresh apple pie... 'scuse my drooling. LOL! So sorry to hear of the toothache. I pray it has resolved by now!

  17. It is spooky to see the vacant resort. Our place has most of the cabins torn down and were replaced with trailers or modern cabins. Apple pie is the best.

  18. Hi Baxter! It's good to see you. A pontoon boat ride sounds lovely. I do miss those days on the lake in Washington. I'm sure it seems strange to see your resort looking so different but fun to have apples from there. I'm glad you had a good time with your friend.
Sorry about the tooth. That's NEVER fun. I'll be praying that it is healed up by now and the infection is long gone. I'm SO behind in everything right now.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
