Thursday Things

Grocery pickup was uneventful.  Everything was available...it was a miracle!  I have noticed that everything is still going up in price a bit every week.

Ranger Blue is back from its service call...oil change and a loose cable.   It was only gone 24 hours this time...that is most likely a miracle too.

I worked on Christmas Cards...it takes me a couple of hours to watercolor five cards.  That will keep me out of trouble for many evenings or rainy afternoons.

It spit rain on Thursday so I was not able to paint the garage door, but I have the correct roller now!

Elbow Lake in Smoky Hills.  There are many lakes named Elbow Lake in Minnesota.  I looked it up there are 7 lakes that boast the Elbow Lake name.   The lake name that wins a prize is Long Lake as there are 27 lakes named Long Lake in Minnesota. Not sure how people keep them straight!

  1. I think 'Long Lake' is the go to name for many. We've lots here!

  2. We have an Elbow Lake here, too. Don't know of any named Long, though. Nice picture!

  3. We have a Long Lake here too. I suppose one would need to attach another geographical marker to keep them straight.

I actually a couple of items where prices were reduced for a change...just a couple and plenty still way higher than before.

    Enjoy your painting!

  5. I like your lake story. We have the same problem here. My grandparents had a cottage on a Bass lake. As I've grown up I've discovered there are at least four other Bass lakes in the province. There was some real confusion at first, but now I've learned to ask people which Bass lake they are referring to!

Have fun painting. I've been dithering on the idea of taking some water colour classes. I'm a self-taught artist and not very good with watercolours. But I think I need more free time before I pick up another hobby!

  6. It has to be very confusing when there are numerous lakes with the same name. But I suppose that happens everywhere.

Hope you get that door painted before it's too cold.

  7. Grocery prices continue to increase here, but gasoline prices have decreased and stabilized.

  8. So many lakes by the same name must cause some confusion.

  9. We have Angle Lake here in our neighborhood, a substitute for Elbow Lake.
We are noticing some shortages of some of our favorite grocery products, and yes, the price keeps on increasing.

  10. One sometimes wonders at the lack of imagination when so many places get named the same, but I guess they were all named by different people.
Have fun doing your Christmas cards :)

  11. We had a couple of Long Lakes and Deer Lakes in WA. I don't know how people keep them straight either. I'm glad you got Ranger Blue back. I enjoy the adventures you take with it. We went to the grocery store yesterday and I was shocked at the prices. I guess I've just been buying things here and there and not a real stock up for the last month or two. I don't know how families are doing it. Our gas jumped $.50 a gallon last week too. Not fun these days.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. Have noticed outages of grocery products the last month or so.

I suppose with 10,000 lakes it is not surprising there are duplicates--LOL! ;)

  13. I have noticed the increase in grocery prices too. We are working on filling our pantry so that we don't have to shop so often as the prices rise. We have a Long Lake here in NY too! My cousin grew up there and I spent a lot of time visiting her since it was only 14 miles from where I lived.

  14. Yes, groceries are going up so horribly in price...and availability is down in our area too. I'm using less ingredients & less variety now, in my meals, and shop a lot at the health food store...which carries mostly local things. ~Andrea xoxo
