I went out to lunch way back in the boonies with a very old friend yesterday who is turning 70 years old today! Happy Birthday Susie! We lived across the street from each other when our first borns were just little...that was 47 years ago. We had so much fun at lunch! She was daycare for our grandsons Noah and Adam when they were just little.
I came home to rest in the afternoon and in the evening Far Guy and I went out for a ride.
Shell River at the Dead Beaver Area the water is way down.
We need rain the lawn is turning brown and scrunches under your feet.
Far Side
Everything has turned brown here, too, because of no rain. But that's pretty normal for August. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish some of our rain would get to you. we are a little on the wet side.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the rain. After getting a months worth in one day in July, we've had only occasional showers since then and not enough for me. I've been watering containers every day and the front flower bed and back lawn at least once a week. Probably should be more but water isn't cheap.
ReplyDeleteYour lunch with Susie sounds wonderful. Happy Birthday to Susie!
We went through too long a time without rain near the beginning of the summer. Finally broke that drought. Praise God!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you are feeling a smidgen better since you got out for a bit.
I love that you and Susie have kept the friendship alive for 47 years!
ReplyDeleteWe got a pile of rain this week after a very dry July. Hopefully you'll get some too.
ReplyDeleteYep, our lawn had been crunching under our feet for weeks. But we fortunately got rain and lots of it so everything is semi-green once again. I hope for rain for you folks too & soon. I'm glad you got out, Connie, with your friend. Lunch with a girlfriend doeth much good!!! :) ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteAs DJan said, we're going brown here too, but we don't expect rain in July or August. Fire danger is going up.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you felt well enough to go out and have fun!
It's rare to maintain a friendship for so many years. We got a good rain this morning but I hope it's not done, we are really dry.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a really nice day! Good for you. I'm glad you feel well enough to go out and see an old friend, etc....and go for a ride later in the day.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a lot of rain here so everything is very green. Another inch and a half expected tonight. Hope you get some soon!
Lunch sounds like fun. Glad you got to go.
ReplyDeleteNice that you felt well enough to go out for lunch with an old friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is bad when the swamp land dries up. Our water supply, Des Moines River has dropped so drastically. I am glad you can get out and ride in your mean blue machine.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun lunch! I wish we could redistribute rain to those who need it so badly.
