Monday after Easter

Far Guy wasn't feeling well enough to go anyplace for Easter dinner...so we stayed home. ( I do not have a Medical Degree but I am almost certain he has a medication that has a side effect...either that or it interacts with some other medication he is taking.) Watched the church service on the computer and late in the day we had Salmon and Steak.   It was all good.   It started snowing late in the day.

Seems like we have some sort of snow event every week.

We have enough snow now and someone should send a memo to Winter and tell him to knock it off already.  Spring should be warming up in the wings...

I am watching Downton Abbey on Netflix and crocheting the borders on all those squares I made over the last year.  I have 3 out of 20 all set to be joined.

Monday I did a bunch of laundry...Tuesday is ironing day and since I have nothing that needs ironing I get the day off!  Ha!  No mending worth mentioning on Wednesday, Yes I shall go to market on Thursday, maybe bake a loaf of bread on Friday, Clean something on Saturday and watch Church on Sunday.  There are old thoughts that the weeks should be structured and not all willy nilly.

  1. I was sick yesterday....and it is below freezing this morning! The leaves are on the trees and yet we are below freezing! Crazy!

  2. Hubby and I had a nice quiet Easter Sunday - just the 2 of us. Church was packed. Monday it snowed all day. I agree with you, someone needs to tell Mother Nature it is Spring. Days with nothing to do are a blessing sometimes.

  3. I think you are spot on regarding meds. There have been times that I had to argue/discuss with a doctor on my husband's behalf.
Just two weeks ago my own doctor wanted to prescribe blood pressure meds to me. We did a 3 week trial and checked out BP cuff to the clinics and I kept track. She then told me if she had prescribed it and I hadn't stood firm, I would have felt very sick from BP meds.

I like how you lay out your week. I should do something like that. Seems I am more scattered all of the time.

  4. Wise woman! I need to schedule an ironing day or two into my week!

  5. I cannot believe how much snow you have right now. I like the way you think, I too like weeks that have some structure to them. :-)

  6. I remember that Mondays were laundry days when I was growing up. We didn't do much ironing though, except maybe dad's shirts. Hope Far Guy feels better today! AND the whole rest of the month! At least!

  7. We stayed at home on Easter too. Made meatballs & mashed tators. I agree about the snow & wind & cold, come on Spring. Karen

  8. I really shouldn't complain about the little bit of snow we got after seeing all yours.

  9. I am so sorry Far Guy just isn't up to par. Terry has had a release of his heart problem. He developed Pericarditis---they can't seem to find the cause. It's been a long winter, starting Jan 22. We need to go to a University it think.

  10. I don’t think I’ve ironed a garment in years. I only use the iron when I’m sewing to make sure the seams are flat.

  11. Dr. Google is good for looking up medication side effects but... it really doesn't matter, does it. If we have to take the medication, then we have to deal with the side effects too, unless they're too horrendous. I feel your hubby's pain, Connie. Half of my knee problems are due to the medications I take. Pooey! ~Andrea xoxo

  12. I remember my mom had kitchen towels with the tasks of the day on them. I think her mother embroidered them for her. I had forgotten about the daily tasks routine. My mother followed nothing of the kind but the next door neighbor's mom followed them strictly...and added her own. My friend, Linda hardly had any free time.

I hope FarGuy feels better. You could talk to your pharmacist about his medications. They often know more than a lot of the doctors.

  13. I hope Far Guy is feeling better soon. Meds can really do a number on a person. We're still eating Easter leftovers even after sending food with Mom and Brad & Mandy.
My days are not very structured anymore. I need to be better about it.
We watched all of Downton Abbey and had planned to visit Highclere Castle when we were in the UK last fall but we ran out of time. The wedding was the main focus anyway.
We're flying back to London next Tuesday to see our new granddaughter, but I doubt we will be doing much sight-seeing while there.
Hope things are looking better today and I'm praying for you both.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  14. We were home alone on Easter Sunday too, but spent the day before with family. And we had leftover meatloaf. We're sure wishing spring would come and stay! Hopefully FG will figure out what is causing his symptoms.

  15. I'm sorry to hear that Far Guy has been feeling bad. It sounds like he needs to go over his meds with his doctor. When you have different doctors prescribing things it can cause interactions. Your Easter sounds peaceful. We didn't leave the house and since we've had some below freezing days we had chili for Easter dinner. Winter has sure dug in it's heels and doesn't want to leave many places this year!

  16. I think you need to have your Easter moved ahead a month or two. Snowy Easter doesn't work. The Scandinavians celebrate May day in June on the Summer solstice. That's the only way they can have flowers to gather for their may pole.

  17. Monday is my laundry day, too. I'm not all that structured otherwise, but I am about laundry. It's a decent day down here but we will be getting rain and not snow tomorrow. An all day event. I hope it can be sorted out for Far Guy.

  18. We were home for Easter, too, but took a little ride to check up on the birds at a wildlife preserve we frequent. And oops! we ended up sharing an ice cream cone that was not on the schedule! I hope that snow you got has melted and revealed some signs of spring by now.

  19. Easter is done for another year once a great time now bittersweet for me

  20. I hope the med issue gets sorted out for Far Guy. It's not pleasant not feeling well that's for sure.

Yes, Monday was always laundry day but mom didn't wait until Tuesday to iron. that was my job when I came home from school that day. Now I never iron anything - if it is too wrinkled it gets tossed into the dryer with a damp towel. :)

  21. I've sent a little Thought Note to Mr Winter for you, telling him to pack his bags and find somewhere else to sojourn until next year. I hope he listens!

  22. We also would very much like winter to knock it off!

  23. Salmon and steak sounds so good.. we had steak—ribeyes—for Easter. Sorry Far Guy feels bad. You are probably right about the interaction. Nothing much one can do without a backfire.

  24. Somehow we went from 70 to snow with the salt trucks out yesterday. We got many more inches than we had been forecast and it is still on the ground. They are saying 83 degrees on Saturday. My head is spinning. We stayed in for Easter, too. Just tired, I guess.

  25. When I read about your endless snow events I remind myself not to complain about all our rainy days.
Sure do hope Far Guy feels better soon.

  26. Ugh! More Snow? Stay warm... Can't wait for Spring to finally make a showing.

  27. I hope that far guy is feeling better now....gosh he'll need to get a different med it that's what is causing the problem. Our yard looks just about like yours...we have big snow hills all over the place yet and a still frozen lake. And we're closing in on May! Yikes.

  28. Your non-medical intuition is likely right. You know Far Guy better than anyone. Hope he feels better. You definitely do not need any more snow! I try to structure days/things, but I end up "willy-nilly". Just the way I am wired *^*

  29. We seem to have had a high wind event every day this month -- with the exception of yesterday and today. Thought it would never stop. I wanted to go stand out on the prairie like the pioneer women did and scream my head off. It restarts tomorrow. Oiy.

  30. Sorry Far Guy wasn't feeling too good. Hope he's starting to feel a bit better by now.

I tried the structure to my days thing... It didn't stick.
