June the Snowbank

My brothers are telling me that perhaps June should be called July or August.

June is mighty big this year.  It will be awhile before she is gone.    Care to guess what day she will be completely gone?   I will mail something to the US or Canada to the person who guesses the day June totally melts.   So guess a day if you wish.   I will keep a list of guesses here....you have until Monday night to enter a guess!

We had a busy day making a grocery list and meal plans.  Wally world was totally out of eggs.  My baby brother was in Costco and brought us some.  Oh and I also had a nap.  We are mostly settled in again.   My baby brother, his bride and Baxter visited late in the afternoon.  Poor Baxter had Kennel cough but he is feeling much better.  It must be a bad year for Kennel cough as Aurora (Noah's Dog) and Little Elvis both had it and have since recovered.

My Dad will be in the Nursing Facility getting stronger and doing physical therapy for the next few weeks, our hope is that he will get strong enough to go back home...we will see.   Dad is 95 years old, his UTI is all cleared up.  He is somewhat confused which is normal for an elderly person who has been moved from their home.   I will visit him soon.  My brothers one or the other has been there every day.

  1. Oh My! That is some snow bank! I just woke up to a snow covered yard. Hmmm. April is playing with us!

I noticed the eggs are in short supply. I may have to look around and pick up some farm eggs from one of my farmer friends next time.

    Guess? Hmmm. June 2nd?

  3. That is a big snowbank but some warm weather should have it gone in another month, I suspect. Not making any predictions, though. Glad you got home okay and hope your dad will be able to come home soon.

  4. I'm going with June 5, my niece's birthday!

  5. June is a big pile of snow!! My guess is June 5. I'm glad you are home and getting settled. The egg shortage may get worse before it's better now that there have been whole big flocks euthanized due to Bird Flu. It's just one thing after another isn't it?

  6. I am glad that the plan is for your Dad to get the help he needs so he can return home. I have utmost respect now for physical and occupational therapists for what they can do to help people regain function. Hoping with you that he will be able to return home. I will guess May 31.

  8. Glad you are settling in and glad you got some eggs. You are all in my prayers and Far Guy's sister too. My first collie had "kennel cough" but when we took her to the vet it turned out to be distemper....we got her from a pet shop when I was very young. She survived but got yellow teeth from it and never grew to be a full size collie. Her name was Foxy and she was just like Lassie! She would be at the bus stop when I got home from school.
    My guess is April 21st.

  9. I’ve been wondering about June . . . my guess is May 31st. I think the bird flu has hit the poultry industry hard this year.

  11. Not making any guess, because I'm not in the US or Canada. But I'm glad you're all settled in back home. Hope your DAd is able to go back home, and if not that he settles in quickly. Glad Baxter is recovering from his kennel cough.

  13. I would like June 29. I'm sorry. Best wishes to dad! It is so random what our stores don't have. For a while it was saltine crackers which my husband thinks are necessary for chili. Now there are pallets of them. Luckily we always have lots of eggs. And since we have a freezer stocked with meat, I can always figure out a meal. Prayers for continued improvement for dad.

  15. I'll guess April 30 - I'm an optimist. Nice weather should have June disappearing fairly quickly.

Glad to hear your Dad is doing better. I certainly hope he is able to come home soon.

  17. April 28th. I am glad your dad is doing better. Settling in is fun and slow at the same time. We will have an egg shortage soon with the bird flu hitting thousands of birds.

  18. It's great that family goes to visit your Dad often. When my Dad was that age he forgot that people came by and a large chart was made, hung on his wall, and visitors "signed in" so we knew he wasn't really left alone 24/7 as he might have thought.

  19. I'm going to guess May 14. I'm also wondering about a possible egg shortage. Your Dad's situation brings back a memory of when my mother in law was around 90 and her memory was starting to suffer. We bought a little notebook and people would sign it, and write little notes of encouragement, because she would not remember, by afternoon, people who had visited in the morning. 20. That's a whole lot of snow still to melt!! Your family may be correct it should be named at least July. Best wishes to your dad, I'm sure he'd like to go home. I know UTIs can make a person confused and act out too, you never know.

  21. June is a big girl this year! I bet it felt good to get restocked on groceries after being gone so long. I send my best wishes to your Dad. It's good the UTI is taken care of and I hope the physical therapy goes well.
    I will guess June 17th!

  23. I'm glad your dad is recovering and that you are settling back into your home so easily again. That is a huge snowdrift (says the girl who never lives in snow), so I will be watching with interest to see how long it takes to disappear :)

  25. 95, wow! Your brothers are awesome. Love how your family takes care of each other.

  28. I'll guess "Juneteenth" June 19th, can't imagine it taking that long but what do I know about snow as we have already had 90 degree days here in South Texas!

  29. June 6 is my guess. I've been wondering what June is looking like. Thanks for the photo. Our Walmart was totally out of pasta yesterday. Not good.
I'm glad your Dad is gettting the therapy he needs and I'll pray that he'll soon be able to go home.
