You could take many photos of a wedding party on these steps.
It is a big beautiful church from the outside, who knows what it looks like inside. The school is next door to St Michaels, children were outside playing, it was fun to hear their laughter.
The church in which I was married had these steps. They have been updated over the years, stone pillars hold the rails now. Some kind of treads are on the steps to try to prevent slipping in the winter. There is a cut through on the left to allow entrance for a ramp that extends all the way down the side street on the left so that the angle isn't too steep or dangerous.
I remember the original altar (or at least the one I remember from the 60's which I think was original). It was about 3 stories high with highly carved alcoves which held statues in each one. During the 60's our local catholic authorities didn't like statues and ordered them destroyed. The altar was taken down and replaced with more of a table, the background wall was painted and there was a single statue of Jesus, barefoot and ascending to heaven.
Luckily, before my wedding, I had looked at my friend's sister's wedding photos which were taken in the church. With the bride and groom, the wedding party, any of the posed shots in front of the altar, you could see just Jesus's bare feet over the heads of the photographed. There was no photoshop in the 70's. I made the decision to have all our photos taken at the reception hall.
Looks like a beautiful church all right. Would love to see the inside too! I'm not too good at steps anymore though....but I bet they have an easier entrance than that....maybe in the back! :)
