I had Book Club yesterday. We read Stephen King's novel Billy Summers. It was a great read, different from other novels...not as gruesome...or perhaps gruesome in a different way. I give it an 8 out of 10, it is a page turner for sure.
Far Guy saw a new Pulmonary Doctor after his Doctor left to do research. He wants to try a couple of different things with Far Guy...so we will give it a shot...special nebulizers to help thin the mucus in his lungs and a special vest that may help to loosen up the mucus. Since they are non invasive they are certainly worth a try. The Doctor also said in his opinion " Lung valves should have never been an option because of the mucus he produces, and I am not surprised that they didn't work." ( After the fact it is easy to say what works and what doesn't)
Far Guy is feeling better and he is almost back to where he was before the last hospitalization. He is working hard on the treadmill getting his steps in. After he has been ill it takes 4 to 6 weeks for him to recover. One day at a time. The Infusion yesterday was just one stick for the IV...that helps Far Guys outlook when they don't blow veins.
Far Side
All that is good news. Interesting about the vest!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the change in doctors may just be a good thing.
The new ideas for Far Guy sound good to me. So why not try them. Praying they help. Also glad to hear he is feeling better. Bitter cold here this AM . Thankful for the new starter in my car. Have a great qweekend.
ReplyDeleteI do hope these new measures will help, and congrats to FG for not getting stuck more than once. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear he's improving. Hopefully some of these new things work for him.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear he is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteAll sounds on the positive side for Far Guy! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I recently sat on a bench and had a little chat with Stephen King. I'll have to tell the story on my blog soon. Have a nice Friday and a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have never read Stephen King because I thought they were all gruesome but maybe I should try that one. So glad to hear about Far Guy's new doctor, non-invasive procedures and aids, plus a one-stick day! I pray things just get better and better!
ReplyDeleteIt's *always* good to have a fresh set of eyes look at a patient, Connie. As an RN I'm always in favor of that, most definitely. I'm glad Far Guy is feeling better and seems to be headed in the right direction. I'm jealous his knees are good enough for him to be able to walk on a treadmill. Mine are definitely not, unfortunately. :-( ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's good news for Far Guy and I'm certain a relief for you that he's feeling so much better.
ReplyDeleteI used to read Stephen King novels, but after a few nightmares I gave up on them. Perhaps this might be the book to read if it isn't too frightening.
I hope these new treatments help him feel better. My brother-in-law has ALS, and he has worn one of those vests a few times when he has had pneumonia, and it really made a difference for him. My daughter actually has fitted patients for the vests at various times in her RT career.
ReplyDeleteSo glad there are things the new doctor wants to try that are not invasive. And one stick yesterday … WOW! Someone is getting the hang of it maybe. I’m not a fan of Stephen King. Too scary, haha!
ReplyDeleteGood to have a new doctor and hopefully this special vest (interesting) will help. Good news for your husband. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear Far Guy is feeling better! A new doctor can be a good thing. It's good to know he has some new, non-invasive treatments to try.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the new doctor has some new ideas to try. And non-invasive is always good. Congrats on the one stick day! I had to have my A1C checked on Tuesday. My birthday. They stuck me 5 times to get blood. I kept telling the to do a butterfly in my hand, it always works. Finally the 5th time, that's what they did and they got the blood! Don't listen to the patient, we don't know anything about our own bodies do we? :-(
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I hope Far Guy continues to improve.
ReplyDeleteI've never been fond of horror books ( or movies) But Billy Summers sounds like a book I might enjoy reading.
It does sound like things are looking up! One stick! Terrific. And new doctor and new ideas. Like you said, noninvasive and can't hurt to try. Glad he is slow and steady on recovery.
ReplyDeleteAll good news for Gar Guy. I've never read a Steven King book because I don't like scary books.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Far Guy is improving. A new doctor may be a great thing. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteNot much of a book reader, but I have ready Stephen King before. He certainly knows how to keep you reading... I never read any of his scary stuff, though... There are plenty of movies out there for that...
ReplyDeleteThis is all good news!
ReplyDeleteEverybody feels better when Far Guy improves.
ReplyDeleteAnother outlook , can't be bad , having new eyes on the situation.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope this new doctor's ideas will work! So nice to hear good news. :)
ReplyDeleteThe new doctor sounds hopeful, trying new things to help far guy breathe easier. Hope they work! So glad it was only 1 stick!
ReplyDeleteGlad Far Guy is improving. Hope that continues to be the case. Yep, those things are worth a try. Hope they do help.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear Far Guy is improving...small steps that are really HUGE steps! I read Billy Summers I gave it 10 it was so good I couldn't stop thinking about Billy.
ReplyDeleteGlad Far Guy is feeling better. Hope he finds the new treatments helpful.
ReplyDeleteGlad the new doctor came up with some new options, especially since they are noninvasive ones. I have a feeling the doctors are learning a lot from Far Guy and his condition.
