Really cold

The wind chills were awful, in the -30 below zero.  I think the high yesterday was -8 F  that is no fun.

Sadie doesn't seem to mind the cold weather, Little Elvis lifts up one paw and you know he is cold.

It was a four stick day for Far Guy...another new nurse using him for target practice.

Got a New Years greeting from Sherry and her gang:)  Yes we made it too!

I worked on some cards while watching Sadie and then when reinforcements showed up I cleaned a bathroom...exciting day!

  1. Bitter cold here yesterday and today. So of course we have to have furnace problems. Sure hope they can get it fixed.

  2. I was cold this morning as it was 9 here but my bedroom was 64....I promptly turned the heat up! I can't imagine what the heating bills must be like up there. Stay warm..so sorry about Far Guys being a target....my heart goes out to him. I am bidding on a Valentine stamp on Ebay..I'll see if I win. Wish me luck!

  3. OWWW for all the sticks. Do they think he is a pin cushion? It is cold here too. We are trying to stay in as much as possible. But today, woo hoo, my quarter steer is ready at the butchers and we are leaving soon for pick up. Then I can stand on my freezing enclosed porch with the freezer door open for a while.

  4. So sorry to hear about FG being used so badly. Sadie is a puppy and doesn't know any better. That is really cold.

  6. Yuck, the end of January can't come soon enough. And yuck too, that the nurse stabbed Far Guy more than once.

  8. Brrrrr! I've been there myself with multiple "sticks" - both in giving blood and in getting IVs over the years. One of my best friends just retired as an ER nurse, and she was so good at starting painless IVs they would pull her out of ER and send her to the other departments just to do that for patients when needed.

  9. Wind chill advisory for today again--up to 45 mph wind gusts. Really cold to have to do your business outside--LOL!

  10. I guess I should clean a bathroom!
My JN has had 4-stick days. He get a PSA quarterly. Some nurses are good –some are bad.

  11. It's C.O.L.D. here too but not that bad. It was -3F when I woke up but I don't know what the windchill was. It's a bit warmer now, 4F. At least above zero!
I'm sorry for Far Guy. He must get mighty sick of that every week, especially when they keep sticking him.
I picked Lizzie up this morning so the girls can play together. They are having a blast. It's been 2 weeks since their surgeries so they haven't seen each other for awhile. It's so fun to watch them play non-stop until they collapse.
Stay warm and hug Sadie and Little Elvis for me.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Those are some freezing temperatures for sure! We've had single digits but not as bad as yours. It's hard to make yourself go out when it's that cold!

  14. You can keep those bitter temperatures up north!

  15. I will be sure not to complain for at least an hour after reading of TG's plight.
Hug your puppy, each other, and stay warm.

  17. At first I envisioned FG holding up sticks...and then I realized it was infusion sticks. Duh.

-5 here when I set out for my adventure, but I can avoid winds. It was worth it.
I hope winter sticks around so I can have more fun seeking ice formations.

    Don't hit me!

    :)

  19. You have some brutal weather. sSay safe.

  20. There should be some rule that Far Guy gets the best 'sticker - nurse' every time, because he's already paid his giving blood dues. Yes it is cold, here too, but not THAT cold here!

  21. That Sadie is sure growing! And yes it has been windy and cold!

  22. Oh so sorry it was a four stick day for far guy. That is just awful. He must hate going there. Yes, it is very cold here too....hope we can get thru this cold weather and warm up a bit soon! Take good care!

  23. Ugh, Jerry says to tell Far Guy he empathizes and totally understand the "target practice" analogy. For a decade he had to be stuck monthly, and sometimes twice monthly... meaning his veins are blown permanently. Even PICC lines are hard on him now. Keeping both of you covered in loads of prayer!

  24. Brrr! Even I think that's cold. Sorry Far Guy keeps ending up having more needles than he should have to have.
