Before and After

Before...we had some lights under the cabinet...one was a undercabinet light that Far Guy and I strung up through the wall before we did the tile... at the time we said we will figure out something better later. We added the two round battery operated lights later...it was never great lighting.

A blog reader/old friend saw the lighting situation and sent us a package from Amazon.

Saturday Handy Andy figured out a way to get it all hooked up for us without taking down the tile wall.  Wires were cut and spliced and soldered together.

Now we can see the light.  We have never had so much light in that part of the kitchen!  It is also remote controlled...we can make the lights dimmer or brighter or make them flash!  Real high Tech for us old farts!

  1. Absolutely wonderful!! I wish I had that for our kitchen at the sink!! It's so dark in the kitchen even with the odd type of ceiling lights they have in this apartment building. We can hardly see to do anything. Bless your thoughtful friend!! Enjoy your light!

  6. Great new lighting system. So nice when friends help us with this new technology. New technology...a blessing and (for me) sometimes a terrible frustration.

  11. I love it and your kitchen! Dennis did the same for us yesterday afternoon. We had bought lights for the little trailer to put in the kitchen and we never had the chance to put them up before selling it for our move. He put them in the kitchen here at the hosee and they are wonderful. Ours were also purchased on Amazon. I went in there last night and they will make a huge difference when I'm working in there.
    Blessings,

  12. Nice! I need lots of light in the kitchen. The kitchen in our townhouse is very dreary, but the new house will be much better!

  13. When we remodeled our dark kitchen with zero countertop lighting (and the counter was in a dark corner with no windows) - I had the walls wired for very elaborate kitchen counter lighting. As I recall there were cup lights that were to be built into the bottoms of each cabinet and I don't know what all. It turned out that moving the cabinetry to the windows and adding a hidden light under the molding over the sink made the kitchen 100% brighter and we never needed any of the stuff I had purchased. I have outlets inside several of my cabinets in case we needed them. Never used. And I purchased even more for the ceiling. Didn't need those either. LET THERE BE LIGHT - Yours looks amazing!

  17. Yep you have light. It looks good. Ours burns out and I have to take the bulb with me to Ace. They say they don't have it and then I have to help them find it.

  21. The new improved lighting will make a big difference. We bought a stove hood fan at a garage sale a couple of years ago and it has lights in it. We use it a lot and wonder how we managed without it.
