Far Guy finished some of the woodcarvings he has been working on. They have been painted and sealed.
This is one that was finished. Dontcha just love yellow cheerful flowers!
Far Guy likes to carve flowers. I can carve flowers but don't enjoy it as much as he does. He is looking forward to getting the patio table out and sitting outside to carve on sunny days. We need a new umbrella for our patio table...the last one wore out. The Christmas Ornament for 2021 is ready to carve...that is one project that takes most of the summer. We sure miss our woodcarving group.
Yesterday Far Guy came up with a design for a stand that will hold the sheep tank/vegetable garden at a good level for him. Fresh veggies ...now that is something to look forward to!
I did some laundry and worked on my mosaic crochet project...as soon as that one is done I have another idea brewing in my head for my next project...and I think I have the yarn on hand...since I might be a yarn hoarder. I watched more episodes of Anne with an E...I am really enjoying that series. Then I watched a cooking show and had a nice nap.
Just before supper the Junco's came...that usually means snow...at least it would be some moisture.

I'm quite amazed at ability to turn wood into such beautiful delicate looking flowers. Wow! He has some skills!! It's early here, so it's still dark but it's raining and that should bring a bit of green to our world this week.

I joined a stained glass group about 2 years before the Pandemic (or maybe 3? - it was before my hand surgery, so. . .) which made me one of the newbies. I know just enough to be dangerous and could really use the input and advice of the more experienced glass artists. Plus, it was just fun to hang out with other adults!

ReplyDeleteI too would like my little vegetable garden to be higher so it's easier to weed and harvest. Used to be I didn't even think about that.
More snow? We know we'll get some more, at least one more snow storm, but it would OK for us to be wrong on that. I still have jucos here, though I don't see them as much, they will be gone up north any day now.

ReplyDeleteWe had rain most of the day yesterday and then what they call "grapple" here. It's about pea sized hail and there was still about 3 inches on the ground this morning. Yuck! You could sure hear it hitting the roof.

Now, that flower. It is absolutely stunning. Far Guy is such a talented carver. Did you paint it? You two are amazingly talented.
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished blanket and the new project too. I gave away seven big black garbage bags stuffed with yarn when we moved because I didn't have anywhere to keep it. I'm REALLY looking forward to replenishing my supply when we get in the house. You know that I use a L.O.T. of yarn and, like you, I like to shop in my own stash.

Juncos have been flitting around here all winter and they are most likely building nests now. We usually find nests on or near the ground when we clean the garden in the fall.
Great sunflower sculpture. The tank should work really well for your garden.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad Juncos don't mean snow around here because we have them all winter. They used to leave for summers but in recent years many stay and nest here. One year we had them nest in a hanging basket.
I love that flower that far guy carved. In fact I have loved all the flowers he has carved. He has a way with a flower!!! We are supposed to get rain tonight and tomorrow...so we'll see what we get....after all it is still March! Take care! Enjoy your many projects! They always turn out so well!

ReplyDeleteYou guys are going to love having a raised bed! My hubby built one a couple years ago as a test. We loved it and went ahead with our raised bed plans to grow the veggies we love best. What a huge difference not having to bend & kneel makes!! Beautiful carving & look forward to hear about your new project.
