Wood

Far Guy finished his carving.

What began like this...

Progressed...

It is a black walnut yarn bowl!  It works to hold my yarn so it doesn't roll all over.
This is the wood on the back...I love the color variations in some of the black walnut.

In other wood news both levels of log stairs have been spring cleaned!

Yesterday I made it off of the stairs and around the corner headed for the living room.  Pictures were taken down and cleaned...the wall washed and the floor scrubbed...section by section the living room  will be my project this week.

  2. Tell Far Guy that I love the bowl. What a clever idea. Boy, when you spring clean you really spring clean. Very impressive.

  3. I am impressed by your cleaning mojo. I did scrub the plastic that is covering my dining room and kitchen area floors yesterday. I can't wait to see the end of that mess.
The yarn bowl is just spectacular! They are handy aren't they? I've been using one lately myself. Araignee

  7. What a gorgeous bowl for your yarn! That wood is amazing. I have a black walnut box holding extra flatware that my grandfather made for my mother about 80 years ago. He was a carpenter. That box is one of my treasurers, even though it's very plain and simple.

  12. I have a yarn bowl. It cannot be compared to the work of art that you have now. Far Guy outdid himself and that wood is beautiful. What a treasure for you.
Your cleaning exhausts me. :-). You are making well use of your time confined whereas I read or knit or color. Do you want to come to my house after we are released?
    Blessings,

  22. I gasped when I saw the bowl, then shook my head, I should've known. It is beautiful, walnut is a beautiful wood. We have a bookcase that is behind my computer that we made of walnut from trees we sawed from here.
