Butterbutts

The Butterbutts came this week, everyday new ones seemed to arrive...perhaps a family of Butterbutts.

They are really a Yellow - Rumped Warbler

Here you can see why they are nicknamed Butterbutts.

We sat outside last night after supper...it has been rainy and cool here.
Far Guy is getting a bit stronger everyday.

  2. Love those little birds...and their name. So happy Far Guy is recovering! It's cool and wet here also...more rain today. Do you think I should start building a boat? Flooding is becoming a real issue everywhere it seems. I hope you get some sunshine today.

  16. This is the first spring that we haven't seen any Warblers by the lake. I really miss them. Actually we have fewer birds in our backyard too but I blame that on all the noise the construction next door makes.
So good to hear that Far Guy is on the mend.

  18. Oh love it! Butterbutts! Sort of like how my Grandmother called certain birds ... certain names. Like Mugwumps.

  19. Never heard of Butterbutts. But you did say that was a nickname. Dan saw a new bird, well new to us, in the woods this week. We looked it up and it is a beautiful yellow Hooded Warbler.
