Sunset in Phoenix and Hawaii

We are safe at home, not unpacked yet but I downloaded a few photos. It is chilly here in Minnesota! Here are a few photos from  the beginning of our vacation. I snapped a sunset photo from the airport window in Phoenix just to prove we were there.

Sunset from Phoenix

Then off to Los Angeles.

Finally a sign that we may get to Kona.

Departing LA

Ready or not here we come!

I guess I told you yesterday it was hot.  Very hot.  When we left home it was below zero.  When we arrived on the Big Island of Hawaii it was in the 80’s.   I just wanted to sit in the shade and rest.  The humidity was oppressive.

Waikoloa Beach The first few days we stayed at a condo just off the golf course in Waikoloa Village.  We watched the golfers chase balls, the birds chase each other, a mongoose run around avoiding capture and the sprinklers go on from the lanai.

Sunsetr at Waikoloa Bay

Sunsets were beautiful there.

Our grandson Adam was enjoying the sunset view too.

If I had a Hawaiian name it would be “Walks slow sweats alot” public showers meant to wash off salt water became a pit stop for me to wet down my hair…so it would drip down my body and cool me off.

  2. What a contrast! I'll be in Florida next week and don't expect it to be as hot as Hawaii. Glad you had a great vacation and are now home safe and sound. :-)

  3. Hopefully, your body absorbed some of that warmth and retained it for the long Minnesota winter ahead.

  6. I hear you about the heat and humidity in Hawaii. And I don’t do well with either. That’s one reason I like the Pacific Northwest. No humidity. We have found though, that Maui seems to be a bit better in that respect, so that is where we went the last several times we visited. I’m glad you had a good time and a safe trip back home. I hope the trip home was less eventful than the trip there! Blessings, Betsy

  7. LOL! Sounds like you went from a super cold day in Minnesota instantly to a horrible summer day in Minnesota--but with different scenery. ;) What a shock to come back home to freezing weather. Love your Hawaiian name. :)

  8. I hope your whole visit to Hawaii wasn't hot and humid, although in mid-winter here in SD that does sound like a pleasant change to me.

  9. You're supposed to go to Hawaii to enjoy yourself! What's going on. I don't like heat either.

  10. It had to be a shock to your system to have such a drastic climate change! I hope you were able to quickly adjust to the warm weather. What a wonderful place for a winter vacation. I can't wait to hear more about it and see more of your pictures!

  11. *hahahahaha* I laughed out loud at your Hawaiian name, Connie! We'd for sure share that name if I ever went to Hawaii. The sunset is gorgeous, the weather sounds awful, and I'm glad you're home safe & sound. Please keep sharing pictures & telling us about your time there in Hawaii. Love, Andrea xoxo

  13. I was glad that you made it there. I really pick up a lot of stress on my own self from reading about the double. We were caught in JFK for such a long time that we don’t desire flying again. Anyway, I think your photos are wonderful and I will turn up the furnace while I look at them so I feel the heat and humidity.

  14. From one extreme to the other! I thought those tropical breezes were supposed to cool you off? I had no idea it was humid there...now you know how I feel down here in the summer! LOL! I would think in winter it wouldn't be humid but what do I know....not much evidently....I hope you had a great time in spite of the heat. Did you tour any sites? Is the volcano still erupting? Glad you got home safe and sound....there's no place like home!

  15. Oh wow, what a nice place to go! I sure hope you had a great time while you were there! We spent our Honeymoon in Maui off the beach with no humidity and a breeze off the water and you could hear the waves while going to sleep! Only thing I did't like was at dusk out on the paths were frogs the size of a coffee can lid, no kidding! They would jump all over so John I think was half carrying me long enough to get off the path! They were so ugly too! Glad you are back safe!. We are expecting some snow tomorrow so everyone is buying the stores out of food! We came home to a burnt out sump pump! UGH

That's the way it would be for me too Connie....walking slow and sweating big. It sure is beautiful there though. Loving your pictures and commentary!
