Hawaii : Day Seven

We spent the morning at a nearby bay watching the teenagers on kayaks and the parents on paddleboards.
Far Guy took this photo with his phone.

We checked out of the Sheraton and went to lunch at Longboards Pizza, possibly the best pizza I have ever tasted...Adam agreed with me.

We headed out to the old Kona Airport to a public beach.

Most of the beaches have lava rock which is hard to walk on and sharp on your feet.
We headed over to the Kona Joe Coffee Company.

They give away samples of coffee, it was excellent.  We bought some Kona Joe Coffee Jammers and some coffee dry rub. Coffee jammers are a chocolate covered roasted coffee bean...worth about a cup of coffee.
 Far Guy and me.

Coffee Beans
It was a beautiful place sitting high on a hill above the ocean.

It was check in time at our condo so we headed over there and then went to the grocery store to stock up for a few days.  Far Guy rested on the lanai and I went to the pool...everyone else went to the beach.

Sunset and beach view view from the pool.  Time to RELAX!

  4. I especially loved seeing a picture of you in a colorful dress. You hardly ever have yourself pictured on the blog. For a long time I thought you looked like a ladyslipper! :-)

  5. Oh wow! Love it! Love the muumuu you got! I still have one my mother wore in 1965 that was made for her by a local seamstress from Puako. Puako is north of Kona. My father had a favorite place at the Old Airport Beach, we went there often since it was easy access for him.
Next trip,..definitely going to check out the coffee companies.

  7. I love all the palm trees. Resting by and in the pool sounds really good. I had some trail mix the other day and they put chocolate covered coffee beans in the mix. It was a shock to bite into them unexpected but I got use to them when I found out what they were. I know your are not having tropical weather in the Minnesota Land.

  9. Chocolate covered coffee beans really do have a jolt, but Kona coffee is quite strong itself.

  11. So beautiful! I'd have a hard time walking on those prickly beaches even with shoes on--LOL! What a pretty dress! Nice to have some quieter, relaxing days. The coffee sounds delicious! ;)

  13. It sounds like a wonderful day. I enjoyed seeing the picture of you and Far Guy. Your sundress is beautiful. I have six or seven sundresses that we’ve bought on our trips to Hawaii and I wear them all of the time in the summer. There’s nothing more comfortable. I don’t even own a pair of shorts! I’m having so much fun following your trip. I appreciate you taking the time to share it with all of us. Blessings, Betsy
